Stolen!!!

sorry about your MB getting stolen. I spent 600 bucks on a Mobile Guardian system that tracks the car via satellites, can control it such as speed locks, ignition kill and so-forth. I am going soon to get it put back into the MDX and try to get it in the TL I have. It's worth it.

bob,
you are so lucky! i'm glad that my quick release wheel helped you out.
atleast you didnt end up looking like this guy.

i think your next item for your NSX is the NRG hub lock.

sorry about the MBZ though, i dont have anything for that.

Can you post the link to the guardian angel please? I can't seem to find it on-line.

http://www.mymobileguardian.com/

Like I said before... I have the system on my F350 and I LOVE IT! It's a tracking device and it also works as an audible alarm (siren/horn, flashing lights, door locks, etc...). I don't think you can purchase it directly, but they will refer you to a local dealer that installs.

I had actually been procrastinating on getting it for both the MBZ and NSX and just hadn't gotten around to it. Guess I know where the NSX is going tomorrow...

If the Benz had GPS was the unit ID registred? I know Garmin has you register the handheld id numbers of their units.

Would you be able to track it or the police track it this way.. like when they track a cell phone??

just a thought

I hate hearing stuff like this!!!!!

I'll go one better.. I use a product from Motorola. For about $100-$200 one time purchase, depending on paranoia, you can set up a product called “HOMESIGHT
I have a video sent to my cell phone or computer anytime someone comes up to my Garage or front door.
Here’s an example of the e-mail.

Event : Schedule 'Garage Door Open' Triggered
Device :Drive
Date/Time :Thu Dec 13 21:38:54 CST 2007

You can go nuts and add devices for about $35 each that tell you if you have a water leak, temp too hot or cold, motion in the house etc.. etc.. I travel a lot and it’s great to go on the internet and “take a look” at each corner of the house. EVEN if you have a monitored alarm, like Brinks, they’ll probably be gone by the time the cops get there. This way you have a detailed video of who, how, what and when.

I LOVE it.. if you want more details and examples of video, let me know and I’ll send you some stuff that will put a big smile on a victims face..

ACD

Thanks

BRINKS works very good, its affordable easy to use, and I had a guy try to rob my place one time, I had the alarm on silent that day because it also has features like door chimes when doors are opened, I use that for my kids so im notified they try sneakin out, anyway by the time the cops got here he was still inside the house and they arrested him trying to run out the backdoor. Only took 4 mins. so you do not know what your talking about. BRINKS is one of the best out there, very effective.

Fyi, there are all kinds of jammers on ebay to jam those gsm/gps signals, so... don't rely on those high tech tracking systems.

Henry.

You must live in a rural or low-population area. Here (Kim's Snatch) or in Calif., home alarms are low priority and the average response time is measured in HOURS, not minutes.

A division of my company installs alarms and yes, Brinks sucks (along with most other major alarm companies). Self-monitoring is the answer.

Side note: One of my clients had an alarm system installed by one of those "big name" companies. They did a half-ass job, didn't hook up the cellular back-up and didn't secure the outside phone wiring. Thieves cut the phone line coming in to the home and spent HOURS inside cleaning out almost everything that wasn't nailed down.

One more thing...those of you who post their name (or variation of), location and pics of their cars/homes on the Internet are asking for it. Include statements like "we're going on vacation next week!" and you invite the ENTIRE (CRIMINAL) WORLD to rip you off.

That sucks but at least you still have an NSX!

Get your wife one of those new MB "black" edition cars - everytime I'm at a GP I get shivers listening to the rumble of the exhaust and noise of those pacecars. I'd get one in a heartbeat! Their styling cues are nice too...

damn guess CD was not worth the trip.

we better watch out next time about advertising when we are going to be away.

crooks all over the place now a days.

people need to work for a living instead of ripping people off.

get a house alarm. i have an instant response time on mine at the shop + my 5 minute personal 12 guage response.

Sorry about the car bro... I know the feeling, sucks.

In my old house.. the garage door opener broke and I never got a chance (lazy) to fix it. I used to wake up many times at night looking outside and garage when I heard any small noises. Taking off the wheel & locking the wheels is smart.

I wouldn't be so upset about the car as much as knowing the dick heads were in my home going through my stuff. The problem with America is that we are so forgiving for thieves. If the thieves know they are going to loose a hand or possibly an arm and be marked as a low life forever I bet crime would almost come to a complete stop. This makes me think of that guy in Texas who shot those burglars breaking into his neighbors home. That guys a hero.

Sorry about your MB. Its probably in a container on its way to the middle east.

Well, it also depends on your city (read = propensity for property crime/break in) and the quality of your police force (read = funding) more so than the alarm company.

We live in NorCal. One time when I was on a business trip in Dallas and the house alarm went off. It's 1am in Dallas (11pm in CA) and my cell phone wakes me up. It's Brinks. They say the house alarm just went off and no answer at home. I say my wife is home alone, get the PD there ASAP. Local PD was there w/in five minutes of the alarm going off. It was a false alarm (something to do w/ phone cable cut/repair), but the PD got there, checked the property, secured it and was talking w/ my wife in less than 15 minutes.

I live in a nice neighborhood and NEVER have to worry about anything like this. We leave our front door unlocked at all times, even when we're gone. The only time we lock it is when we are gone for prolonged periods of time.

I've never had LoJack, but I have Guardian Angel on my truck. It's the same as LoJack but you only pay a one time installation fee ($299?), with no recurring monthly fee. It also acts as an alarm, you can track your vehicle online, you can disable the vehicle online, it will send you a message (email or text) if the alarm goes off or if the vehicle moves, and it will notify if the vehicle goes above a designated speed (for the kids cars).

damn, that sucks!!! Just curious why you have that on your truck and not the NSX and MB???

I hope the catch the bastards!!!

Sorry to hear that. I had a Lo Jack put in mine. It will call your cell phone, house phone and send an email if someone moves your car without the transmitter. You may want to consider that as an option since you have some real nice cars.

Well that sucks. You need to get the wife a black series car now.

On second thought I think you said you were moving to WI? Forget anything 2 wheel drive and sporty, well for at least 9 months out of the year anyways. Maybe get her a ML63.

I knew the dealer when I special ordered the truck, and lifted trucks are stolen out here more than most cars. With my truck being at $75k+ she (my dealer friend) threw the Mobile Guardian in. I had been meaning to put he same system on the MBZ and NSX, but just never got around to it. I may have it done on the NSX before we move...

Sorry to hear that happened...glad you guys are ok at least.

Shifty sorry to hear about the MB!!

These guys were PROFESSIONAL, probably watching you for weeks and only wanted the MB, because its new with very low miles, which means that they probably had all the jamming/theft equipment they needed. The NSX would probably have been a bonus. Thank god for the detachable steering wheel, its an excellent idea and one im going to look into!

Heeltoe is definatly right about being car-jacked!! If they targeted your car, and wouldnt have waited til you left, things could have been much different.

Good-luck with your insurance and im sure your wife will be driving around in a new MB very soon!! Glad no one was hurt, insurance can replace things but not people.
