How many of you will keep your NSX for at least the next 5-7 years?

Anyone? Obviously, it is hard to see into the future, but I don't see a replacement for my car in the near future. However, I am beginning to wonder how we will perceive the car in 5-7 years. Will it still be as modern looking as it is today? Or, will it look a bit outdated 5-7 years from now? Does anyone think the NSX looks outdated today?

I don't think it looks outdated at all. Except the flip up lights which I LOVE :wink: I'll hang onto it forever I think. It's just too cool to get rid of. Even if I get something else I won't lose the X.
 
dont worry, its never going to be "outdated" and its never going to be out of style, although i suspect in 30 years alot more people are going to be asking "what kind of car is that?"

I couldn't possibly care less how my NSX is perceived in the future. It's my daily driver going forward with no plans to change that.

As for my, I've owned my NSX now for five years and I am definately NOT selling it. If I would have the money to spare, yes, maybe I would ADD another car, but I don't think I would sell the NSX. Yes, some parts, mostly the interior, starts to look dated. So I will probably update it here and there but for the rest, the NSX is simply NOT outdated in anyway. It can still excite people.

Simple example:
Last Friday a colleque at work went for a test-drive in the new Honda Civic Hybrid. It's a possible lease vehicle since new laws dictate that Hybrid cars fall into a much lower tax rate.
He had asked me if I would like to come along and insisted that I would come with the NSX to work so he could (finally) experience it.
At the Honda dealership the NSX was immediately noted by the people there. Questions were asked, pictures taken etc. The Hybrid drive was fun but a VERY different experience.
On the way back, on an empty stretch, I gave the NSX its leg and briefly hit 160 mph.
So, in the end, back at work, he was talking 90% NSX and 10% Hybrid :smile:
That's how old and outdated the NSX is, I think.
 
I bought my NSX one year ago; I was looking for it, and finally happy to have it (even stereo was not working, and I have to install new one)- that time I was working in Honda dealership and were drivin' a lot of models of Honda, hence know it from inside. Before I started to work with Honda, I was dreamin' to buy 911Turbo in 994 body, but while having fun with it at NeedForSpeed, in real life I learned there are not too much room for 117 kilo (257 lbs if I'm not mistaken) body (me). Even I'm not a fat boy, and not so tall - 5'11'' there are almost no room to sit comfortable. Then after I checked out the trunk - oh boy how it's possible to put anything in it, it's so small. I'm not going to describe 911 or too say that a lot of roadsters has same weaknesses - I'm going to say that NSX has lot of advantages, perfect maneurability, comperatively big trunk, perfect exterior - even 15 years vehicle! Moreover the quality of parts and assemble really unbelivable! Does it needed to remind that it has an aluminum body? Or engine was assembled by only one mechanik? Everybody knew Airton Senna loved that car - god knows he was a professor doctor in this matter. Here at St. Petersburg, Russia it's a real show stopper, both while drivin' and at the front door of famous disco, and even there are a lot of modern espensive and glamour cars, among street racers it's always a winner. Hence, that if, guys, we will be strong enough to keep it gently in good conditions say 10-15 years more? I'm sure we will be paid back with perfect feelings and fun, good valuble reimbursement, in case one's will decide to sell her out!! I will try hard to be able to keep it with me.
 
I'm not worried about the car becoming outdated. I'm worried about the continued availability of parts!
 
I'm not sure if I'll have my NSX in the next seven years, but if I ever get rid of this one, another one will be in its parking spot before this one is sold. :smile:
 
The NSX goes nowhere unless there is a replacement for it. However a playmate for it is always a possibility if I can somehow justify it to my family without being beat down. :rolleyes: :biggrin:
 
The only way I could see getting rid of my NSX would be if I was upgrading ... to another NSX :biggrin: . If a clean Zanardi came up for sale at the same time I had a bucket of spare cash around, it'd be mine.
 
I usually get rid of my cars within 2 years. But that does not mean that I wont get a newer NSX. I've been through 14 cars in the past 20 years. 6 of which were TTZ. Couldn't leave Nissan scene.

That's no joke. That's why we have to keep sending our business to guys like Chris at SOS. Hopefully as parts become discontinued from the factory, they will be able to replace moving forward. :confused:

When an F-14 flies by, most people don't know this plane was designed in the early 70's. It still looks like a sleek modern jet, even next to the likes of the F-22 Raptor. Erm....I hope you guys know what I'm talking about:redface:
 
I have an 05 and am intending to clean her and fix her up for the garage in a year or so. I plan on taking her out every few weekends and that'll probably be about it. Until another exotic comes out that fits my criteria, I plan on keeping her for a LONG time. Since I live NYC now, she comes out to play at night and on the weekends, but I never plan on taking her out more than that. When I move from this town, I will probably try my best to get the Fisker Karma as my daily driver. Have ya'll seen the Saab Aero? I would use those cars as a daily driver. Theyre nice, but not a keeper like the NSX.

I can think of lots of other car I would like to have in addition to my NSX, but I can't think of another car that could ever take the place of it...except a newer one, even that probably won't happen. I think mine is going to stay with me for a long time and be a staple of my collection as it grows over the years.
I have now had mine for 2 years, which I can't believe, the car still feels brand new to me everytime I drive it and I still get all giggly driving it. I too get people who are just amazed that it is 17 years old now...hard for me to even believe that myself since it has be so well cared for.

car this good looking is never out dated.

the only time the nsx might look dated is when they take wheels off cars. :biggrin:

i got people who ask what make and how old. i tell them its a 91. and it looks exactly like this :eek:

i wish the everyone can age this gracefully.
 
Bought my '96 in '99 with 22,000 miles. It now has 108,000 miles with over 50 track days and I have no intention of parting with it. In fact, to celebrate it reaching 100,000 miles (which it did coincidentally on its 50th track day at 100 mph on the front straight at Watkins Glen at Kids Day last summer) I am treating it to a total repainting with the master himself, Joe Lomoriello (Pbassjo) at Vince's Auto Body. It should be all ready to go by the end of the month.

I have a tendency of running my cars for as long as they can go. I traded my 1991 Mercedes 300SE with 275,000 miles (all by me) for a 2000 Mercedes E55, now with 160,000 miles. With any luck, I will stay safe with the NSX and will still be bragging about it breaking 250,000 miles in about 12 years.
