(Occasional) strong motor oil smell from intake ducts

I'm pretty sure that the valve covers were checked -- this is one possibility that my mechanic mentioned. I'll check with my mechanic to see if he checked for the PCV valve, though. Thanks for the suggestion.

(Occasional) strong motor oil smell from intake ducts

My 2005 NSX has been sporadically exhibiting a strong smell of burned (?) motor oil emanating from the two intake ducts on the sides of the car. It doesn't do this every time I drive it, and I'm at a loss to figure out what (if anything) is wrong. My car has about 23,000 miles on it and about...

4500mi NSX Roadtrip through the Western States - Suggestions for roads/must see's!

Uh, I think you meant to write that Laguna Seca is north of Carmel and just a little east of Monterey. The former Sears Point raceway is the one that's in Sonoma wine country.

    Crack on windshield, please help

Under no circumstances would I attempt to repair any windshield chips or cracks myself, using a kit. I've gotten two small but non-trivial chips in my windshield, and have had both of them expertly repaired by a local person (a 60+ year-old woman!); the results were great, and the chips are...

    NSX Turbo vs. BMW 335i

A joke I heard about BMWs a long time ago: Q. What's the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? A. The porcupine has the pricks on the outside.

Skip Barber vs. Jim Russell ???

I've taken three Skip Barber courses at Laguna Seca - the 3-day racing school, car control clinic, and high-performance 2-day driving school. I haven't taken any Jim Russell courses so I'm not in a position to compare these two schools, but I can provide a little direction on the Skip Barber...

    Laguna Seca HPDE Aug 21-23

This looks really tempting. I've taken three Skip Barber courses at Laguna Seca (3-day racing school, 1-day car control clinic, and 2-day high performance driving school) and love driving the course. My NSX is pretty much completely stock -- does anyone know if that creates any problems...

    Palomar Drive: April 25, 2009

I'd like to be there but inasmuch as I'm having cataract surgery the previous Thursday it's not very likely I'll be ready to take on that type of drive only two days later. Just have to see what the surgeon recommends.

    Driving schools?

I've attended three Skip Barber racing/driving schools at Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA. I can recommend them all, but there are differences among them depending on what you're looking for. My goal was to be a better driver. I harbor no illusions about ever being a great driver, and maybe not...

    Zaino polishes

Here is my personal perspective on this topic. Let me preface my response by saying that I'm NOT obsessive-compulsive about getting the best shine possible on a car. Rather, my goal is to protect the NSX's paint from sun and grit as well as possible without spending days getting it that way...

    Palomar Mtn. run

I'd love to do this again sometime in mid-June or July. I have a friend with an S2000 who'd like to drive as well, plus another who would accompany me in my NSX. If the time works for me, I'll be there.

    Polish burned in Finish

You should contact Zaino directly with this question. I've e-mailed Sal Zaino once or twice and ALWAYS gotten a response from them. They seem to be great guys and are really knowledgeable about their products, and very helpful. For problems like this, go directly to the source!

    Palomar Drive 1/19/08

Re: Palomar Run 12/8 Sorry you didn't get to stay for the whole ride - later on there were some great spots with little or no traffic and lots of twisties at speed. What a blast - I'm looking forward to the next one and I have a friend who will probably ride with me as well.

Re: Palomar Run 12/8 I don't know Poway and am really confused by this. Are you saying that you should park your car between the Mobil and CVS? On what street? Or is there some sort of state or local park nearby? If so. what street is the park located on? BTW, I have clicked the link to...

someone tail gates you, what to do?

Wow, this thread (in particular) and forum (in general) seems to be getting more and more inhospitable to honest differences of opinion. Let's face it, we've all gotten impatient with the driver in front of us when we're going faster than he is, even if he's driving at the speed limit (and...

    Trunk Space

Actually, I have been told (but I can't remember the source) that the ability to hold two golf bags in the NSX's trunk was, in fact, a design requirement for the car, since the president of Honda is/was a golfer.

Should I sell my '03 NSX to an export company?

I know this question is a little bit off-topic, but if you don't mind my asking: I've been thinking of getting on a waiting list for an F430 but only if I could purchase it at close to SRP, not at the grossly inflated prices that new and used ones seem to be selling for on eBay and elsewhere...

is it true that an NSX handles better than an EVO9?

Maybe, and according to comparisons of a $50 Swatch watch to a $35,000 Patek Philippe watch, the Swatch (i) keeps more accurate time, (2) is just as water-resistant, and (iii) runs on a battery so it never runs down. And the best of all: When the Swatch breaks (which it eventually will), you can...

    Why we don't street race

This is my all-time favorite piece of advice, since it applies so aptly to most endeavors in life. It's exactly the same piece of advice that world-class poker player Eric Seidel gives to those who ask him how to play better poker: PAY ATTENTION!
