Sources of differences between that calculated number and your speedometer/tachometer include speedometer error, tachometer error, tire treadwear, and tire deflection. Using the same chart, the RPM at 80 mph with the stock '97+ 6-speed in sixth gear is (80/202)*8000 = 3168 RPM.
