there may be a post somewhere on this but i couldn't find it, so if anyone has a link, that will work too....

putting an abs from a 1997 into a 1991.... the brake lines do not match up and the wiki page says "you will have to re-bend the hard brake lines to the brake master cylinder"

any tips or tricks to make sure the lines don't get kinked or broke when doing this ?

thank you in advance.....

If the pipes were straight you could get a proper size tubing bender. I am personally not fond of re-bending or straightening brake lines.

I compared the 1991-97 lines and it appears two, as you mention, are different.

1991 -

46374-SL0-A02 PIPE U, BRAKE 001 1991 NSX $18.43 $13.82
46375-SL0-A02 PIPE V, BRAKE 001 1991 NSX $18.43 $13.82

1997-

46374-SL0-L00 PIPE U, BRAKE 001 1997 NSX $13.95 $10.46
46375-SL0-L00 PIPE V, BRAKE 001 1997 NSX $13.95 $10.46

If you need them, for under $30 total I would just order them:). We are talking about brakes!!!!

Is there anything you don't know - LOL! You're better than a Brittanica (if you can remember what that was). Thanks for keeping us all up to speed!
Happy Motoring!

Larry, have you done this swap? What else is needed?

I have to say no I have not, but I recall the 1997 has a change to accomodate the larger spare. I think the original bracket and brake lines were in the way of the 16" spare. They moved the lines/bracket/modulator back to get that spare in for 1997+.

This would be typical of a rarely used item, just order them and give the parts guy your VIN (or a VIN for a 1997). Typically an "indefinite" back order is really about two weeks.

Might wana checkout chrisnsx abs page on his post I think it's no 8 he list all the lines you need for the upgrade

Ravi, I did 2000 + ABS upgrade, they are talking about 1997 ALB swap.

All my parts came in today at Pohanka Acura after weeks, because some parts were on back order.

I'm with Larry: I don't recommend rebending an existing bend.

However, the bend goes from 90 to 45 degrees on the 1997+. If it were me, I would explore bending *another* part of the existing tube to allow it to match up to the newer ALB.

Brake lines are quite malleable and durable. You can also roll your own, but it it is a lot of extra work for something that costs $10 and it won't be as nice.
