Additional tire and wheel questions for my 1996

I have stock 6 spoke Acura wheels in gun metal grey. I really like them. They have curb rash from previous owner so was going to have them refinished. The tires I have on them currently, passed inspection but could certainly be replaced. I looked on tire rack.com to see what was out there and only 2 tires came up? Is that possible? Also I thought I read that if I am replacing the tires, that I should do so before getting wheels refinished?
I was toying with maybe getting new wheels, thinking that might open up the tire selection a bit. But like I said I really like these. Any suggestions as to tire size, options? Etc?

I was thinking of sending them to wheel collision in bath, pa as suggested by another member. Someone also recommended Alloy wheel repair.

Thanks. Jason

here's a thread i started on tires for these wheels because i had also noticed the small number of choices in oem sizes:

from others on prime i realized you can open up more choices by going down to 205/45-16's from 215's on the front.that led me to bridgestone potenza re-11's,which i like a lot.they are very sticky, and were available in 205 size but not 215.
also, put the fronts and rears in separately at tire rack

if you put the 205/45-16 front size in separately when searching by size at tire rack the re-11's will come up.they are available in the oem rear size,245/40-17.you have to put them in this way because thay have a different speed rating for the fronts and the rears.

this will give you more options, and the 205's work just fine.the re-11 has a pretty wide tread and thus is almost as wide as some 215's.they're better in rain and have better steering feel than the kumho xs's,and are higher performance (or at least a lot newer design than these oem tires) and i believe cheaper than the potenza re010's.

If you want the most precise handling "feel", the stock Bridgestone Potenza RE010 is still available in the stock sizes of 215/45-16 and 245/40-17.

If you want really sticky tires and you don't mind relatively short lifespan, then get one of these combinations:

Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 205/45-16 and 245/40-17
Kumho Ecsta XS 215/45-16 and 245/40-17
Toyo Proxes R1R 205/45-16 and 245/40-17
Falken Azenis RT-615K 215/45-16 and 255/40-17

If you want a bit longer lifespan with performance that's still excellent but not quite as sticky as the previous group:

Continental ExtremeContact DW 205/45-16 and 245/40-17

I need to just copy and paste this for any other tire threads that come up, lol.

Just note that the answer varies depending on wheel diameters (due to tire availability), so for example it's different for 17"/17", etc.
