Any information on this car...

Here is what I would do (since you only share the VIN) order a vehicle report (both) and when you see the dealership info, contact them for maintenance history. Then, ask the seller for a copy of their latest alignment report (Hunter with color plots). Share that with us. Then, ask someone local to the car to advise who would be the best vendor for a PPI (you can find the locals on the main forum index.) Finally, if all that checks out, go put eyes on the car. Look it over critically. Look at the weld spots. Look at the condition of the rubber around the doors. Look in the engine bay for modifications. Look under the rear and focus on the bolts (is the greenish-tint still on them?)

The above is a good start.

Thanks for the recommendation. The NSX just popped up on cars.com in Houston - www.houstondirectauto.com
I am looking for a daily driver.. recently sold my 2005 NSX with 12k miles. I was too afraid to drive it and put miles on it. This time i want to really enjoy the NSX and drive it without fear. The auto check states that this is car has a salvage title and not sure what the price should be with the title.

Anyone owns a salvage title NSX.. any issues with mechanics..

Couple thoughts: The salvage is due to "theft" so there may not have been any damage at all just a cloud due to the theft. It is listed as an automatic. It is hard enough to value branded title NSXs and with it being an auto that makes it even more difficult.

I bought a salvaged car which was due to theft. There was a lot of missing parts. But It was a deal of a lifetime. I wouldn't let it bother you IF you get it at a screaming deal. I made the mistake thinking parts were cheap. Now, parts cannot even be found unless used on prime. Another BIG thing to consider...

just a follow up - went to the dealership today. I saw the car. it looks beat up - the exterior def. painted. most of the vins number stickers are missing. You can see the the front lip has some plastic tear. there are some scratches on the paint. overall i would say 5 out of 10

the interior also abuse. the dash board where the key goes is broken - you can see the under column on the steering wheel. the light switch seems to be hanging by a tape. the passenger side has a woofer on the floor so the leg room is compromised. the dashboard has a replacement radio and the panels are scratched up. the leather is in a okay condition. - the windows work !!! the radio works but its a after market.

the drive was rough but i think thats because the tire and rims were not balanced or aligned. the tire seemed to be rubbing in the inner wall when taken a wide turn.. i feel the rims and tires are not perfect for the car.

the spare tire is missing...

so with all that --- should i place an offer -- the dealership is asking 24K -- its a 1994 with 113k miles and salvage title.
what should be my offer and what will i pay to paint the car again and fix the dash board and take out the woofer from the passenger floor. any idea on the cost of replacing the leather on the seats..

do you think if i wait i can find an automatic that is in a better shape with same miles... with similar price..

thanks for the help...

I wouldn't pay 1 dollar over 20,000 for it. Seats are easy fix from leatherseats.com for around 1,000.
Dash trim is a little harder to find. A good respray will probably run you 10,000.
So if you add it all up, you purchase this car and throw 15,000 at it. Or you buy a 35,000 dollar automatic nsx in better condition. If you like a project, by all means buy it. If you do not like projects, do not buy it...
Good thing science of speed is about to unveil the nsx heritage program next month where they will be offering discontinued parts for us. Did you take any photos?

If it was me I would start at $18k. Are you planning on keeping it an auto or will do a 5 speed swap later on?

I have seen 91-93 auto salvage/rebuilt with around 100k give of take on eBay ending up around the $25k+ range.

guys thank you for the information. I wound keep the care just the way it is only thing i would like to do is replace what is missing. I want an automatic since i am in traffic most of the time and it easy for me to drive around town and I am not into racing. the dealer is very firm on the price.. the lowest he will take is 22k... i just think there is a lot of interest in the car since the price is low and some buyers don't care of the condition.. as long as it drives they are happy. When i was there looking at the car there was already a guy trying to get finance on the car. the dealer knows the car will go soon.

all the cars that are currently on line for sale is $30K +

Jinks i did not take any pics the car but i will attach the website and they have the pics. see what you think. My budget is 25K total with all the renovation.

Doesn't look too bad. Mine was missing a whole lot more parts than that. 22k is okay I guess. But I'd never buy an automatic. But it definitely needs some advan wheels and new seat covers.

To my knowledge most banks will not finance a rebuilt title car. TBH, I was tempted to consider this car as well. But ended up passing because 1. its black and 2. its an auto. If you really like it than go for it. You only live once. Best of luck and let us know how it goes.
