i've seen those elswhere too. i think it would be worth a try, especially with our cars' tendency to eat rubber.

I think this design would help in increasing tread life when driving straight with the wheel alignment set to negative camber.

Thinking about it though, I can't see how it would increase the contact patch when you corner. I would think that the additional camber of the tire would make the contact patch worse as it becomes loaded up in a high speed corner (verses a standard tire with cambered alignment which increases contact as you corner).

I was thinking the same thing. I'm hoping that some of our more experienced track guys, or professionals like Billy Johnson, can chime in.

They look promising, next step is like he says in the video he needs to get some real tests done by some professionals. Sending a set to tirerack to actually test on their track would be great advertising for him if they actually perform well.

This is one of the items that makes you think.. now why didn't I think of that. The inventor does bring up some interesting points about a tire that's inherently conical and the alignment issues associated with it.

This reminds me of other such inovations that never quite made it. Airless tire anyone?

It appears to me that the factory Advan tires show very slightly better numbers.

I think it's unfair to compare the R-Compound tires against the other two "street tires". They should have tested another standard R-Compound tire to get a better idea of how they perform. .

Not sure why you think the Advan show better numbers. The only area where the Advan beat the Optima is in launch g.

EDIT: nvm, the A13 is an ultra high performance. Not really a fair test.

It beat it in Launch G, Peak G, and Right Hand cornering G, and has a higher treadwear rating!

The SCCA forum junkies totally derided the Automobile Mag article and for good reason, IMHO. A good review w/o the facts to back it up...which, if the Camber Tire does turn out to be a good product, would be a disservice.

Meh. If the tire is good, the AXers will jump all over it. Just have to wait on them to try out.
