Charlotte Areas Cars and Coffee Event- Cancelled Indefinitely

Silly me, I thought I could help foster and grow the car crazed culture that is present here in Charlotte, but the immature actions by what was at first a select few but now what is adopted to many has ended our Cars and Coffee event indefinitely. Cars and Coffee Charlotte is no more!

I have run the range in the last 24 hrs of extreme anger and sadness because six plus years of hard work and effort is going down the drain. I can't tell you the countless hours, money and effort that was put in to build something wonderful from the ground up for the Car Culture in Charlotte to be ruined by a few that use their head as only a mere hatrack!

I have tried it all from posting the rules numerous times, hanging up signage, creating a police presence, getting others to help spread the word but nothing seems to help. I love cars and the people that love cars but under the current circumstances someone is going to get hurt or killed and I can't have that on my watch. I hate to see something that I have been working so hard to create come to an end but before someone gets seriously injured or killed I'm done! Sometimes you don't know how good you have it until it is gone and I believe Charlotte will realize this in a short time. The time, effort and great expense that this has taken was done out of pure joy for cars and those that surround them but it is getting too taxing and too dangerous to really enjoy

I'm am very grateful for Mattie's and the NC Music Factory's hospitality over the years but as you can see, no good deed goes unpunished and there is no reason that their businesses should not be jeopardized for some of our foolishness. Not only are the actions of a select few going to ruin it for those that behaved themselves and really enjoyed the event but it is going to hurt some small business owners as well.

I'm very grateful for the experiences that Cars and Coffee has given me and for the great friends that I have made out of it but all good things must come to an end and Cars and Coffee Charlotte is no more!

Best wishes,

Michael

Michael, sorry to hear this. A true tragedy for the genuine car enthusiasts in the Charlotte area. One of the things we have done here in Raleigh at the Waverly Place Cars n Coffee is to notify and invite the Cary Police Dept to attend.

Stupid is forever.

Not sure how your event was operating but I think one critical factor that sets apart the DC area's most successful C&C (http://katiescarsandcoffee.com/) is the fact that it is very hard to attend. This includes:
-running usually from 5:30am to 8am on Saturday mornings
-being in a small parking lot, forcing attendees that want to have a good spot to get there even earlier
-being located far from the interstate and other major roads in general so it is not something people could just 'stop by' at

This results in only the really really dedicated car enthusiasts coming out ~ the ones that will come from all over the region to see premium cars and share their stories and vehicles with other committed owners. The guys who do the pointless revving, bumping music, misguided burnouts, etc. all go to the easier-to-attend car meets.

Michael, I can't tell you how sad I am that you are having to shut down C&C. We made some great friends in the early days and we always looked forward to that first Saturday of the month. You are making the right call here. Once again, threw the immaturity of a few all will suffer.

Michael and all of the other car enthusiast (or at least the mature ones). Thanks for the many years of effort. I was there for the first one and you have continued a great event in a professionally well communicated manner.

Greenville is growing with our event at Michelin and we are now getting up to 275 cars. We welcome any mature car person in Greenville this month on the 22nd.

Thanks,

Peter

Very sorry to hear that. I just ran across the video of the bone head Mustang (http://jalopnik.com/mustang-at-cars-coffee-shows-how-you-do-not-drive-at-1514303344) and I really worry that we may see a repeat of that type of nonsense at our local meets. Even with the early hour, I have noticed more and more "macho stunts" as the event gains popularity.

Thank you for the hours you did put in to make the event, I know that I appreciate what our local guys do so I am sure you have plenty of silent admirers out there.

sorry to hear that you had to cancel C&C due to immature show-offs.. always wanted to attend it last yr but timing was never good.. doesn't make any sense to me why some people feel they need to have "check this out" attitude in events that are merely to get together, hangout, talk about/share info on cars stock/modified/exotics etc.. people should realize these events are not geared for drift shows, burnouts, race.. theres a place and time for everything C&C isn't the place nor time for these things.. sad to say, but i don't knoe if you can truely get everyone on the same page.. always gonna be a idiot that ruins a great event.. maybe the video posted of the guy in the mustang will go viral of how not to ruin it for everyone else..

wow Mike what an idiot. Here we may get one that will do a quick burnout out the parking area but still in the complex. But it is rare. There are so few places to hold several cars but never the less, places to eat and have coffee that will let you use their place of business to have this one guy ruin it.

So sad
