guy loses 127M in Vegas

It's more like Mr. Wanabe high roller.
My guess is that the man is lonely and have no life. The Casino offered him attention and he was hooked.
I can think of a few things to do with that amount of money.

You're right. I had a guy call me yesterday trying to raise money for a car dealership he wants to start. He really knew his stuff too. His dream will most likely not come true but someone like Mr. Wantabe could make dreams like that come true AND also make a profit while doing so.

Not to sound cruel, but I don't feel for him. 52 years old, run a family business for 2 decades, the man should be smarter than that. No excuses. Theres people out there that don't know where their next meals coming from, so no I don't feel simpathy.

+1 Someone with that much money should have known better, period. If not then they don't deserve it. Quit crying and saying you were taken advantage of. Open up and admit you were an idiot and I'd have more respect for you, and maybe some sympathy.

A fool and his money are soon parted.

127 MILLION !!!??? I have been to Vegas, a few times. I am done at $1,000...and thats an entire week for me. At what point or price do you realize that you have had enough?

127 Million? He HAD to be on drugs. There has to be more to this story. Drugs or mental issues. Something is missing here. I hope his family gets it all back and he is admited/gets help.

I would love to be the lawyer that gets to shoot this guy down in court. "So they kept offering you drinks? Did you ask for those drinks? Did they keep you drinking for the past two years? And when you woke up in the morning, were you still intoxicated? Did you ever wake up and think 'Holy shit, I just last 5 million dollars yesterday! Maybe I should go home and talk with my family.' Sir, you consciously walked into that casino under your own free will. The alcohol came after the fact, and after the loss."

How dare this jack ass call the casino negligent. What a twat.

Nope don't feel sorry for him....but the guy probably has an addiction...you think?

live and learn...

Yeah, I read about him. Old Terrance "Lucky" Wantanabe. What a guy.

Well, $127 Mil can buy you some hella good AA classes. He knew he had a problem, and chose to ignore it. Even in addiction, we still have a choice. We can chose to recognize the problem and deal with it, or we can choose to allow the addiction to take us over.

And they want to throw him in jail as well!

I was about to say the same thing... This poor idiot who clearly has a problem just lost the most amount of money in Vegas's history, which is saying alot right there. Now he faces 28 YEARS IN JAIL!!? Because he still owes 14 Mil? WOW... I wonder if these charges are happening only because he is trying to sue the casino's because if not and they want to put this idiot in jail after taking 127 mil and wanting 14 more thats sad....

He had sold the business prior...and probably was spending the proceeds.

What a fool. 120,000 i would be able to have so much fun with friends for at least half a year. with 120M I would have fun with all my friends for the rest of my life. Some people have no idea how to live and have fun. He should have used that money to help people start a new bussness and take a gamble that way. There are many great ideas out there but no money to get them going.

You are not going to believe this, but my friend grew up with Mr. Terrence Watanabe. My friend's father was a very good friend of Harry Watanabe (the original founder of The Oriental Trading Company in Omaha NE). For those who have hosted kids' birthday parties, I am sure you are familiar with The Oriental Trading Company.
