So what does 13K give you??

Hotel, food, get out of jail/ticket, a closed course, a police escort, etc???

Or is this "RUN" a pure marketing ploy for the Manufacturers to showcase their products??

Most people on the run didn't even have sponsors. The event itself was sponsored by differant companies, but the drivers themselves paid their own way in...well at least most of them... :tongue:

I think at that price the driver's paid for more than their own way in. Hope a Sam's Club size Vaseline tub was included. Bunch of idiots. Tell one to come i here so I can tell them it would be quicker to just throw the cash on the Ducane.

After reading those people's comments of bashing those who've been on the playersrun because of their lack of knowledge of what it really entails.
Let me tell you what it covers: ROOMS @ FIRST CLASS HOTELS, FOOD, VIP PARTIES, EXPENSIVE POLICE ESCORTS, MOBILE PIT CREW, PRIVATE RACE TRACK, HELICOPTER RIDES, YATCH TOURS. If you're complaining, it's becuz u couldn't afford it and couldn't hang with the big boys!
Those Lambo, Ferrari's, Vipers, Vettes, Lotus, Porsche's and any other exoctic car found respect again for the ONLY NSX that was able to attend and represent! Some of those guys were wishing they had kept their NSX because they know of it's handling capabilities, but were also suprised as to how fast my car with the CTSC. I led most of the way and out handled most of them! As far as sponsors, you're allowed to get your own sponsor's, since your car is a mobile billboard for them.
The only expenses you fork out are is your own gas, alcohol and your own speeding tickets. To me, this was a once a lifetime event, how often do u get the chance to ride/race/toy with an ENZO? SALEEN S7? New SHELBY COBRA? MURCIELAGO? FERRARI CHALLENGE STRADALE? VIPER GTS? On freeways, city streets, & race tracks? Meet well to do people who have the euthusiam for their cars as we do for our NSX's? None of which were bashing the NSX. I had the time of my life!
For those who are whining about how much it costs, well all i can really say is............ :frown: for you? TOO BAD, YOU SO SAD! :frown:

Now if you think you can organize 50-60 exoctic cars for such an event much cheaper, please by all means do so! If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all! Think before you speak! Do even know how much the GUMBALL costs???

You can have your nice parties, etc. etc, but there is no way I would fork out 13K to join in unless they install a free 9lb. CTSC and I/H/E before I start! As for your comments RAVN, I would not assume you know the net worth of those here posting (or bashing as you call it). Your comment about not being able to afford it is one I would expect of the stereotypical F-car owner, and with that I lost any respect for what you were saying. Possibly I took your comment out of context, but you presume those of us who are blessed enough to be financially secure would freely fork it out just to join the party. I, for one, have had to work hard to get to where I am now, having worked full time since I was 16 after my own parent's unfortunate cicumstances made it necessary to quit high school to help keep a roof over our heads. We had no car, no phone (not cell phone mind you, no phone period) and for a few days we had no power due to past due bills. This after living a fairly normal 15 years of middle class life. This lesson taught me to enjoy life, which is why I own a few nice toys, but ,more importantly, to remember that there are many more out there living in the manner I just described than in the lap of luxury you apparently occupy. You might want to watch Morgan Spurlock's recent episode of 30 days where he and his fiancee attempt to live off near minimum wage income for a month. It might help you gain perspective. It ccertainly does not sound like your upbringing was similar to mine and possibly that is where our perceptions about a reported $13K for an extended joy ride diverge.

I Dont disagree with your thoughts on not blowing what you have worked hard for but really 10-13k for a fun filled week long vacation isnt bad, it is not for everyone, I personally plan on running it in the next few years and the Torpedo Run in Germany which is also ~13k. Both sound like a great time doing things that I enjoy doing. Driving, meeting new people, and having a great time. :smile:

Thought it was interesting that I passed a dark blue 360 with all the players run decals still on it yesterday and then again today. Anyone know who they are?

I guess it is all about priorities, and the value you place on such a trip. To me 10-13K would make nice trip down under for a few weeks if I were going to spend it on a single vacation. Before starting a family my wife and I liked to take 2-3 vacations a year out of the US to experience different cultures and see new sights (some bargains, others nightmares). "Firestarter" is correct that I do not know all the specifics of this event, but it seems to be overpriced from the info I do know about it. I do not think I would fit in with Big Money and his Model Copilot in any case :wink:
