wow this question might get some nasty replies. any guesses guys? i am 18 and in college, i can pay the insurence i'm wondernig how much its gonna cost me =( ill have my parents help on this one possibly

I dunno about an 18 year old, but Im guessing its gonna be quite alot. Im 26, with no infractions, and it costs me $936 a a year, full. If you are about 18, and with no infractions, youre probably looking at something like $2400+ a year for insurance, and this is probably a really minimum number.

I have a particulta State Farm agent here in LA that has great rates for an NSX.
I am 24 and pay $130/month for full coverage 100/300, the works.
At your age, add 40% for not having good driver. You need 3 years with a perfect record for that. If you are in Los Angeles, expect to pay high 200s or $300/month.
It could a lot less if you live somewhere in BFE.

My numbers are low, but I live 10 miles from Detroit, so I can imagine what the price would be like for an 18 year old in Detroit!

There's one good thing about living in BFE
(aka Iowa), I pay $350 every six months.

I'd say save the money spent on "insurence" (sic) and put it towards your education.

Just my $.02

Anyone here paying insurance on a '00?

I'm 29 with 1 minor speeding infraction (almost 3 years old) and I'm paying roughly $200-$250 a month... That's complete coverage though - the best of everything. I'm going through American Family Insurance.

Insurance varies with so many different factors - age, driving record, location, location, location, etc.

Don't guess, and don't rely on other people's figures. 4g62bt2c30a is absolutely right - call your insurance company and they can tell you how much it will be - BEFORE you buy the car.

There are also some websites where you can get quotes, including http://www.insweb.com

I just turned 24 and mine is $87 per month, full. Definitely check with an agent because there are so many factors. How new the car is, driving record, discounts for multiple car coverages and so forth. GOOD LUCK!

Hello- First post here- my best advice is to get a daily driver, log the miles on this, tell insurance your car is driven as a "pleasure" car and the primary is your beater. I use Mercury, best I could find in the LA area...

to the one who said i should put the money toward my education, sir i am already paying for my tuition.
alright guys atleast i'm knowing about how much i'll be paying, sounds good... i guess it is all about location location isn't it, well my record is'nt bad i have one point on it i believe, umm if we get insured from the same people who do my family's cars i'm sure i'ld get a slightly lower rate, and i am in a big country land, at virginia tech so yea i guess it will be lower cause of that right?
well i gues il'l be paying a few hundred a month i'm guessin,g but since the car i'm getting is used and would be much cheaper than a new one im' sure insurnce would be slightly lower correct? (looking at a 94 nsx)
thanks for the input

yes i will try that nsxtacy
oh and btw
if you guys coul dhelp me out and tell me what options are cheaper
if the car is for pleasure, or if it was corporate use, or corporate individual, im' notr tyring to lie here but honestly the car can fit under any category
i'm trying to select the right options and get the lowest quote i can
frekain insurence we all have to have it dont we, is there any way i can pay for some type of minimal coverage, because i rather myself pay for any damage i do to the car, that way i will be more responsible while driving it, now i konw some of you will say what happens when that woman driving her dodge caravan totals my car, ewll then i'll work that out later,
alright guys take it easy thanks reply back please

First, I think it's funny that you unintentionally corrected the spelling of Ken's username.!!!!!

Second, I have a perfect record and am in my thirties and I pay ~16-1700/yr. for 100/300 for a 91 AND I have a $1,000 deductible. So location definitely matters; some of you pay WAY too little for ins.....

Just explain to your agent and he/she will probably be very helpful. In general, I don't think it matters which car is for commuting and which car is for pleasure only; they cover all the cars with the multi-car discount. But discuss with them to be sure.

One thing you can do to lower your premiums is to get your deductibles set higher. The downside is that you will pay more yourself in the event of an accident (of course). But if you were going to pay for any minor damage yourself anyway, that might be appropriate for you.

Corrected??? My username (and license plate number) is based on the combination of the NSX name with word "ecstasy", which is the correct spelling of this word.

Sorry to disappoint you but there is no straight answer to your question. As some have noted, there are many factors. The key is you have to decide the following when you ask or compare quotes:

Your age (at 18 you are a high risk for any insurance comnpany)

Your driving record (you already indicate you have a point)

How many miles you intend to put per year (usually 4500 is a good benchmark for weekend/pleausre driving)

Is this for weekend pleasure or daily driver

Your deductible. If you opt for $1000 you pay less than $500 and even lesser than $250

And of course your location; is it a high crime theft are or not.

Do you have another policy with this insurance company such as homeowners or other cars for possible discount

How many other drivers will drive the car, and their driving records .....

And whether your insurance company wants your "category" as a business or they will quote you a price to scare you hoping you will not take it and if you do, they will still make money based on actuarrial projections ......

HTH

alright guys! now i'm going to take that defensive driving course to lower my rates also if that will work..
alright and i was thinking..
it will be cheapaer than 600 a month right? thats what i got

gotta say, im envious of all you younger guys who can make payments on nsx's. never could of done that when i was in college, even with two part time jobs as a fulltime student. congrats to those who can do it...

insurance requires shopping, and as mentioned earlier, some companies will pop u hard cause they dont really want your demographic.

location is another important feature which you cant necessarily control...

shop around, but the best bet is to have more than one vehicle with insurance company, also advised in above thread. if they think a sports car is not your daily driver it helps. insuring a daily driver and a sports car can be cheaper than just a sportscar.

in any case youll pay hefty rates compared to older citation free drivers.

good luck
