MB McLaren SLR sighting in Phoenix

Last time I saw, it was for sale at Phoenix Motor Company. The car was roped off and no one was allowed to touch it. The sale price was $428,000.

Wow, it would seem that it has a new home! That poor thing was couped up bumper-to-bumper during morning rush hour just itching for the open road... or at least the car pool lane.

BTW, I was shocked at how small the car really is... it always looks so big in pictures - probably because of the seemingly long nose. I guess it does sit on the MB coupe chassis though.

Anybody know who the lucky new owner is??

There is one here at the local dealer in Syracuse, NY. They have it under a cover in the back and refused to show it to me today. The salesman said the new owner does not want anyone near it or to even see it.

Frank, you almost stopped my heart when I read your response! Don't tease me like that!

Wow, that seems a bit excessive. The new owner must be somewhat on the anal side. Of course, we are talking about half-a-million! You can only imagine my shock when I saw one in rush hour traffic!

Erin,
Randy Knight of Knight Transportation just traded in his silver SLR which was the first one received at PMC in Phoenix for his new black SLR which he just took delivery of last week. He saw my NSX and said "Great car, I hope its faster than this red one I just smoked on the way over here" could he be talking about you? Oh by the way his daily driver is a SL65AMG.

Take care
Lance

I told you not to race those cars Erin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL! I did get smoked by a black SL65AMG once! I wish that SLR would have had the opportunity to steal my lunch money (BTW, the one I saw was silver). So Lance next time we meet up, NSX style, you should invite Randy! You can tell him I want a rematch!

Theres one at Brandywine MB here in West Chester PA. Its also roped off behind velvet ropes for about 440,000.

Looks sick!

Id rather spend that kinda money on a Murcialago Roadster with all the trimmings!!!

Who is Randy Knight btw? Is he adopting?

Donald Trump just bought one for his birthday.

Hmmm... I've been seeing a lot of nice cars lately. Today I saw a red Ford GT near my house on Warner Road (right next to Circle G Ranches). This was the first one that I've seen in AZ... anybody have the lowdown?

Frank, I know you love the GT so I do hope this time it really was you in the driver's seat!

It seems that there are quite a few Ford GT's around. I know of at least three that I've seen in Tucson, two of which I know the owners of and one of them let me drive it for a little bit too which was fun. There was also a Ford GT at Firebird during NSXPO that people got some pictures of, but it wasn't red if my memory serves correctly.

LOL only if life was so generous.

Don't worry, if I get another exotic, you'll be one of the first to know.

As a ginormous member of the tifosi, I still think the motorsports sun dawns and sets on the Carrera GT.

^^ I would have parked that GT a little bit farther out of harms way (i.e. door dings).

There are definitely other cars I'd rather have in the SLR's price range, but it sure is a diamond in the rough during rush hour traffic.

What'd you think, Stephen? I always say if I was forced to buy an American car, it'd be the GT. :)

There is a gentleman here in downtown Orlando who owns a silver MB SLR. Every once in a while I see it sitting in front of the Waveland on Central. The guy also owns a lime green Murcilago that I see driving around too. Last week at the FAAO (Florida Auto Auction of Orlando) they ran a 2004 Carrera GT. I think the bidding started at 330,000. Autosports in Miami ran the GT. That car is beautiful car to see in person. Sounds amazing!!

I'm sorry but I wouldn't pay $42,800 for that hidious thing, let alone $428,000:eek:

OK...maybe $42,800....but it is still HIDIOUS with that 8 foot nose:tongue:
