Hi,

I've just bought my first 95 nsx t and recently became a NSX prime member too. I do have an issue with the climate control unit (it was like that when I bought the car) the fan only works on high. The temp settings /display/AC/Heat works just fine. Do I need to get the unit completely rebuilt? On ebay, guys will do it for around $150 US.

Thanks for the help everyone!!!!

Yes..A friend of mine has this same problem as we speak....However I would not take it to the acura dealer. They want over $1500. If you by any chance are going to change the radio, that would be a good time to rebuild the CCU. If your doing it yourself good luck but I would pay a top notch car audio specialist to take it out and send it to http://nsxe-repair.com/. He is a prime member: Briank. Check this out too: http://www.nsxe-repair.com/CCUremoval.html

Hi,

Thanks for the advice DRWNSX!!

Hello Briank,

What are your fees? And is this a complete rebuilt of the ccu or just what you see wrong? Also could this problem be in the fan motor resistor and not the ccu? Not that I don't want to make the repair, but I just want to make sure I'm fixing the right thing. Again, the problem is fan only works on HIGH.

Thank you.

Repair of your CCU is $180 or $145, send me the whole unit the price is $180 send just the control board (the back half of the unit) the price is $145. Prices include return shipping. I replace all the failure prone capacitors, repair all the problems it has and then fully test it for proper operation.

The fan only runs on high problem is caused by the CCU 98% of the time. 2% of the time power transistor/motor has a issue.

I had Brian repair the climate control unit on my 1992 in 2008. His repairs work great, are very fairly priced and he has fast turnaround. The only thing I would do differently is pay extra for a overnight or two day return.

Just send it to BrianK. Not only does he do an awesome job for a great price, but he's done so many member's NSXs at this point it's like a rite of passage to get your CCU fixed by BrianK. Kids can't wait to turn 16 to get their drivers license, some people can’t wait to turn 21 so they can drink. NSX owners can’t wait until their CCU bites it so they can say they had it fixed by BrianK! Have him fix it and wear it like a badge of honor! There, hows THAT for an endorsement!

I'd like to give props for Briank's excellent CCU removal instructions with pictures in his website. The task seemed too intimidating without it and now I've realized that it's a straightforward process. Here's a pic of my CCU.

Brian, I'll PM you the tracking # once I send it out your way. Thanks!

Brian, is it possible for u to replace the amber color gels that cover the CCU display? I really dont want to spend $750 on a new CCU (OEM)... I have noticed that sometimes the fan only blows on High...but if I turn it off and on everything is back to normal... can you assist? :) Thanks!

Changing the color of the display is not something I have done but I guess I could add that to my services. Would have to procure some materials and come up with a price.

Fan only runs on high is a comon problem and if you are getting that your CCU is due for a rebuild.

No I'm not talking about a color change... Keeping the OEM color but just replacing the clear and amber plastic pieces because mine are all scratched up or faded...

BrianK, do you think you can do this? Do you have a core that we can swap out? Let me know thanks

I can clean it up and rub out the scratches if they are not to bad.

heh you said rub out... lol but seriously, do you think we can just replace the amber and clear lenses? I don't want you to spend too much time on it... As I mentioned before, sometimes the fan only runs on High, but if I turn it off and back on, the fan works normally... so maybe its ready to be rebuilt?:smile:

Hi Brian.. It looks like I have the same problem.. But my entire unit quit working...
But sometime when I start the car it start/stops several times in a row and then completely stop working.... :frown:

I guess that its the same problem, what do you think ?

The unit going dead is another of the failure modes. People can live with the fan only running on high but when it goes dead repair is no longer optional.

If you have you fan only runs on high it is time for a rebuild. Replacment parts for the display window are not available so clean and polish is the best I can do.

Hmm I wonder if we can replace it with some other parts then? Maybe just use an amber colored mylar or film, and then replace the clear lens with some thin plexiglass?
