NSX-R replica from the Netherlands

Great job done to the car. My favourite of all is the seat new leather cover. In terms of lowering the car you could consider getting coilovers which allows you to adjust the height depending on the speed bump. I have mine adjusted to have about 5 cm clearances between the jack point and the ground to accommodate with the speed bump in my country.

I'm also having my car painted GP white very soon.

Does anyone know why a 2002+ NSX on standard suspension looks lower (better) than a 1991 model, despite my 17"/18" setup. Is the later suspension lower, and if so, how much are we talking about.

710, I'm living in Roosendaal (between Rotterdam & Antwerp), when I'm in the Netherlands. Most of the time, I'm in Saudi Arabia for work. If your serious about seeing the car, get in touch around late Feb, early March, when I'll be having my holiday at home.

Mike,
Amazing and perfect job done by the paintshop, this now looks awesome.

Again proof of the fact that it is possible to convert an ugly duckling into a beauty is enough effort and cash is put in (and ofcourse workmanship by the people doing the work)

I have seen and inspected the car when it was still red, looking a bit poorly and on sale by a cardealer in Alphen a/d Rijn (which was only 10 Km from my home) about 8 months ago.
Am very curious to see it in reality as it is now.

I would opt for the new type-S suspension, it lowers the car only about 2-2,5 cm compared to OE suspension and gives the car a great ride.
I have it on my '98 and am very happy with it, speedbumps are no problem with this setup.

René

I'm happy for you. Your car looks good, njoy :) .

ps.

I think it is tough call to say, which nsx is closest to original nsx-r and what is not so close. Depending how you look things, IMO :) ...

... I drove last summer from Finland to Monaco and really njoy that trip.
I was invited few different times to park my "tuned nsx-(r)" front of Monaco'sMonte Carlo Casino with next to Ferraris, Bentley GT and the list just goes on on... I feel pretty good to be there with other supercars ;)

I can Imagine, someone referring to it as "ugly duckling", in the US, you would might refer to it as "beater". Let me describe the state it was in. The doors and front fender were repainted without clearcoat, and the paint was damaged, by our very own Dutch acid rain (rainspots visible all over), the clearcoat from the front bumper was coming of, on the mirrors and rear bumper the paint was bubbling in some locations (complete disbonding of original NSX paint), one small dent in the bonnet and one in the rear bumper, extremely dirty engine bay with leaking valve cover seals and a heavily worn interior (ripped seats and carpet). <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
Basically, the only thing you could do with this NSX, was a complete rebuild, so that's what I did<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Hey Pegi, excellent picture, that's what I was talking about. A complete revised look that hardly anyone has ever seen in Europe. Don't get me wrong, your car is also very beautiful, but every build is to everyone’s own taste. I wanted the clean look of the original 02 NSX-R, and I think I've succeeded. I'm counting down the days until I can finally drive my "new" NSX, another 7 weeks to go.

Bit of a stretch to call an NSX even a tired one an ugly duckling...maybe just the requisite TLC and facelift...to bring back an aging beauty.

So regardless of it's condition, just because it is an NSX it may not be called an "ugly duckling" you might consider some counceling to get rid of the model related coloured vision you are having
But hey, perhaps this is just a language related difference in manner of speach

The NA2 suspension (which was introduced in 1997) is not lower than the 91-96 version, but the 02+ cars may appear to be lower because of the revised body components, including the door sills and rear valence, which are lower to the ground. The 02+ Type-R suspension is 0.5 inches lower than a standard NSX, so you may want to look into that as an option (or just using the R springs with re-valved Konis). I also think you've done a great job. +1 for white 02+ rims. They would really set the car off!

I dont know for sure but i assmue the nsxr has what my 02 has, that spoiler under the wing. I dont know the name off the top of my head, but i would think it has that same piece my 02 has under the wing on the trunk. But overall great job, looks super clean. I wanted a black/red combo but any nsx color i would settle for. Your car is one of a kind, great job

Looks like... Type-R SUPER REPLICA!!!

Hi,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
I believe that I saw you driving at ring Roosendaal with your yellow MR2 last summer.<o:p></o:p>
I’m living in Dinteloord btw, that’s so close as 1ste gear to second gear in your NSX.<o:p></o:p>
If your back home I want to take a look at your precious NSX.

Netjes man
You have done some parts at DG custom leather, right?
Last time i was at their place, they talked about doing some stuff for an nsx type r replica (not sure what anymore though)

Unbelievable, so many replies from the Netherlands. I had no Idea there were this many Dutch NSX owners on Prime.
DG custom leather, started out, with just the installation of the "leatherseats.com" covers. I got a second steering wheel with the Honda airbag, I bought on Japanese ebay. I figured, I might aswell ask about the cost of recovering it with new leather. One thing led to another, and they ended up replacing all the leather and carpet in the car. Like I said before, if you have the funds, you might aswell do everything in one go.
Five more weeks untill I can finaly drive my car; can't wait!!!

Very nicely done, regardless of what you started with you now have what you wanted all along (I agree that white wheels would complete the "R" look, but only if you like them). I actually think that if you are doing something like this that really isn't available, starting with a sound but tatty older car is a good way to go, especially since there are plenty of older higher mileage slighty used and abused NSX's out there going for cheap. Put money in to get what you want and as long as you are careful to be sure the workmanship is of good quality, as your's is, your investment is a reasonable one. As for European "R's" I do remember looking at a '93 or '94 green (yea green!) one in the UK for sale a few years back, don't know where that went.

The green one is a real "R" from forum member "AR".
In germany there are 1 - 3 NSX-R (NA2)

Anyway Mike's project turned out great,
I the interior is also done very tastefully certainly with the choice of perforated leather and the NSX-R carpets.

Finally someone paint a car the way it should be. powdercoat those wheels white with red calipers pleaseeee.

Really nicely done... super tight. Enjoy it!

Man that turned out nice! So nice to see the Luv being poured into an older car and seeing those results. Are you going to stay with the 5sp, go JDM NSX-r gears, or switch to a 6sp?

Any photo shoots from Nordschleife in the future? Enjoy and more pics please.
