I think an NSXCA raffle is a great idea. I think it should only be for a new NSX though. Something does not seem right about raffling a used car.
There is very little risk. Simply state that X number of tickets must be sold by a certain date or all the money will be refunded. And hey you got some interest off the money in the meantime.
I think $100 is a good ticket price. Lots of similar raffles use $100 tickets and have good sales. Even if you just shoot for 1200 tickets with a minimum of 1000 sold to hold the raffle.... If you get the car for $80k the club nets $20k-$40k minus whatever minimal expenses. Boom, you just knocked $130 - $260 off the NSXPO registration price for 150 people.
I don't think current NSX owners would necessarily be the target audience for the tickets, though I and I'm sure many others would certainly buy one. Don't look inward, look outside the club. A small ad in autoweek and you'd have tons of exposure. Or even just guerilla market it via online forums. Word of stuff like that usually spreads quickly anyway.
I also like the "limit 3 per person" idea, that does tend to get people to buy more than one.
Look how successful the auction for the CTSC was last year prior to NSXPO. I think a raffle for a new NSX would be just as successful.
Taxes? Hah. If the winner can't afford the taxes, they can sell the car and walk away with a ton of money. Realistically though if I could have any exotic sports car for just the cost of the tax on winning it, I'd need a much larger garage.
