What's up guys :)
Let me start off by saying Joining the ranks of this board as left me feeling somewhat intimidated lol. I went from being the motor specialist and tech guro on probetalk.com to a bumbling freshman

A little endearing background....
So since i was like a weeee lad (1991) i came across a funky lookin car commerical for this car named snx or xsn, something wierd.. but the car loooked sooo hot... i was soo into formula 1 racing at the time....and i was 11 years old and all i knew about this car was ayrten senna was very impressed. and i.. being impressionable...grew a soft spot for a car i little knew of ... fastforward through the years, GT1 came out...this nsx thing grew...by the time GT3 was out, i had rebuilt every inch of my ford probe gt and was soo damn bored... i had an itch... i was a pharmacy student, and the prospects of getting an nsx was like impossible..i was soo broke...and in debt.. fastforward a little more... i'm now 25, even more so in debt...sold my beloved probe, said goodbye to the probe community, and had my eyes set on one goal, and one car. the Resounding bellows of VTEC and 6 cylinders of 90 degree 8000rpm screaming symphonies were all that danced in my head.

6 months later... with the aid of this AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME board.. i came home with my 92 NSX with 39,000 miles.... the words "I'm in love" dont do it justice.

Suddenly i went from knowing damn near everything about my car to NOTHING. thus...the reading began, the post searches, the tech manuel readings... essential, basic fundamental studying....as i learn of my new baby, i grew an extreme appreciation for art, and genious.... and not to mention COST lol... this friggin joy ride, is gonna eat me of house and limb

So the list of upgrades grew and the search was on... Rims had to go...92 stockies.... um..no... HP Evo's Dark silver 18/19 on Day 1 of ownership.. next on the list is this 2 tone....the cars red...top gotta get swapped to red... and so begins my first stumbling block. I am a pharmacist. i hate being one..i'm a mechanical engineer at heart, i should have gone to school to do it.. i can rip a car mechanically apart and put it back together like theres nothing to it...however, i can not do body work of any kind if my life depended on it.... not even if viagra and the Coors Girls were involved. So to this, i called a few shops.. got a few quotes, and went to the guy with the best deal $150... ehh sounds good...
KILL ME NOW... PLEASE....
i come back to the car and he paints just the top....not the A or B pillars...So what happened??? I couldnt get them off to paint them... why didnt u call me?? i just figured it looked better this way.... OH MY DEAR GOD... the thoughts of death and dismemberment to this individual that were running through my head.... i was going to break his jaw for just uttering such stupidity to me... and whats worse... the moron didnt even match the paint right.....fine..i understand that painting a car is not easy....let alone matching a 15 year old paint job on a car, let alone matching the paint of the NSX with its unbelievibly peculiar paint makeup...if ya cant do the job, say you cant...PERIOD... i'm sooo embarrassed, its not even funny. I cant even drive her right now...she just sits in the garage.. i went home and had the panels off in 45 minutes... PIECE of cake... its not like u need mechancial genious to work on something.. heres the manual... follow instructions....be patient... simple...i dont know what to do.. i've had the car for 4 weeks.. and drove her 3 times...UGH
i do a search.....Vince this.... Vince that...talk to Joe and Vince.. who the heck is this Vince auto shop place... ( I live in Jersey by the way) So i call this dude Joe over at Vince Autobody.....everyone talks about this guy like He is Bishop of all that embodies the elegant grace of that which we all hail as our NSX.... and Oh my Dear Lord. I tell this guy what happened to my car... and he just can't stop laughing ... and then he went on to explain to me the correct way to go about painting the car, and that was it... FIRST time in my life, i have ever met anyone that i fully trusted with my car...any car... i never give my car up to anyone to do any work... i do everything, clutch, motor work, timing, exhausts.. if its removeable, replaceable, fabricatible, or customizable - i do it.. no one else... but this guy had a way about him... and he just knows... he knows where everything is, how everything goes, how everything is suppose to be... basically my car should be up there and done in a few weeks..and i'm aching already lol....

He told me $900 to do it... i'm not even gonna argue... just for the piece of mind he brought me... its a bargain....

I basically got what i paid for at that first shop...never again...never again... this was my first beat down as a Freshman... i have much to learn...much indeed....

-joey

p.s. - sorry for the long post...but had to share ...this board is very different than my old crew.... and the respect i have for much of you is bewildering :)

Nice story. Welcome to the board!
... yet ANOTHER 25yr old owner.
I was just out there about a month ago to pick up my '92. Dang I wish I lived that close to Larry B!

Not only have you found the NSX bodyshop guru, who happens to be a hell of a nice guy, but he owns a beautiful NSX that he loves to drive, and has done countless magic for other NSX owners both on and off this board. Thankfully (as of yet), I havent' needed his services, but I wouldn't hesitate to use him. Great choice!!!

Welcome! Enjoy your NSX and the smiles it brings you. :)

Looks like you got some competition in storytelling posts Meeyatch! This guy sounds like he took waxing eloquent lessons from you!

Sorry you had to learn the hard way, but those lessons are rarely ever forgotten. I wish you could post some pics of the first bargain job. That would be kind of wierd looking. Glad you got hooked and and the car will look perfect.

Same story here. Got a low mileage, 93 locally. Despite the symphonic sounding engine my baby pulls to the right when I hit a small pothole. I was so disappointed, after owning my dream car tha I can not drive it the way it supposed to. I took it to one local collision shop. The expert gave me the bad news that the frame was bent and since it is made of aluminum, as much as possible he does not want to touch it. But I was really desperate and asked if he can do anything to at least make it driveable. He did his best, but when I took it home, still the same, nada no change. I kept it garage for more than a year, until I found this forum. As if my prayers were answered. I called Vince Auto and spoke to Joe. I brought my car and he test drove it. He described the ride as scary and not acceptable. He did not promise me anything but assured me to do his best to make it run the way it should. He tried to explain all the possible source of the problem, I listened and listened but has no idea of what he was talking about. Finally, after all the work was done we took my baby for a test drive, and took it home. My baby is finally home after almost 2 mons. But I have to call him back the next day to tell him it still has a problem. He instructed me to bring the car back to do more road tests. He finally said, I think I know what the problem is. Do this, change that, get Tein RA's. Got her back after few more weeks. When I drove it home I was smiling from ear to ear It drove and still does like an arrow. One week later I took it to Larry B for the routine maintenance, valve adjustment, water pump service etc. She now drives and handles like a dream. My M3 is now the garage queen and collecting dust.
