That's probably because he's using his left foot to brake. It appears that there's a sequential shifter with deletes the necessity needing to use a clutch to shift.

The track is the Tsukuba Circuit and the car is equipped with a sequential shifter so no need for the use of a clutch-same as the rest of the cars in the SuperGT (formerly known as JGTC) series in Japan.
