Yes, it was for removing hot air from the engine compartment but was deleted in later models. I don't think I have ever heard or seen mine running.

Thanks for the answer guys. Just wondering, is that hole in the chassis still exist on 1995+ NSXs ? I am thinking to utilize that hole path for other purpose.

Yes, the hole is still there on later models.
