You guys should watch the cube movies.. they are a little underground and don't have billion dollar budgets but worth a rent.
Ditto on the first Saw. I'm not a horror/gore movie fan but I REALLY liked that one. It keeps you guessing/thinking you know what the hell is going on until the VERY end.
Definitely Primal Fear and the 1st "Cube" movie.
