Rear Acura Sticker replacement

Dooh! I wish I could remember what website I went to, but the guy did a full and complete step by step explanation on how to remove the "acura" and replace it with an exact font and size die cut vynal "NSX"...I know it is out there...It might be in the web ring...I will see if I can find it.

DPC, for step by step instructions on this mod, check out David Nguyen's page, I simply printed out "NSX" using a font style identical to factory and had Kinko's copy it into a black vinyl sticker. www.slipstreamracing.com. BTW DPC, which NSX is yours, may have seen you around, I live in Alexandria.

Resurrecting this almost 12 year old thread because I'm thinking about removing my "ACURA" sticker from the rear lense. I couldn't find any other threads using the search. Can anyone point me to another thread that would have instructions and still functioning links?

DIY
1) Unscrew the four plastic screws holding the carpet on the back side of
the tail lights. Pop the grommets holding the carpet.

2) Peel back the carpet and remove the 4 - 8mm nuts holding the center
tail piece. Don't loose the 4 rubber washers on the back of the center
tail piece.

3) Unscrew 3 Philip screws holding a 1"x8" black cover plate on the center
tail piece.

4) Boil some water in a pan large enough to fit the center tail piece.
This is to soften the glue used to hold the lens and backing together.

5) Place the center tail piece face up in the water for approx. 1 min.

6) Now take a small flat head screwdriver and CAREFULLY!!! pry open the
lens. Start from the bottom edge. Notice some tabs holding the lens. By
boiling the piece in water, the glue as well as the plastic turns soft and
more pryable. Repeat step 5 if the glue has not soften. Try to have the
screwdriver as parallel to the edge as possible so not to place additional
stress on the lense and the plastic. If you've ever shucked an oyster,
it's the same way. Once the screwdriver is in, slide it along the edges as
to separate the two pieces. You can use a letter opener or
something with a sharp edge (CAREFULL) as an alternative. This step takes
the longest as you need to be very careful not to crack the lens. Things
will get ugly if you do. Don't force the screwdriver! Take your time!!
Remeber to soften the glue with hot water. Im not sure what they used for
the glue, but its thick and a pain to remove.

7) Once the lens is separated, remove all the glue from both pieces.
Again, place in hot water to soften to glue.

8) Notice the yellow inner lens held on by four tabs. Carefully remove
this lens.

9) Simply peel ACURA the words off. Clean the inside lens with glass
cleaner. Make sure it's dust free and smooth.

10) Reinstall the yellow lens.

11) Get some clear silicon RTV and fill the slots where the glue was.
Press lens in place.

12) Reinstall the rear plate and carpeting.

When I did mine I used the same instructions as above without an issue. And had a little fun with it as I was going, I discovered when I removed the "A" in Acura that I almost had my name:

But why replace it with Acura when practically everything else on the car says Honda?
