I bought a set of rims(17x7 et42)/tires(215/40) from my brother, and wanted to change out the rear for the right size ratio.

iether 245/40 or 255/40 will work at the rear.

Well now, you know having a 7.5 inch rear wheel on a midengine car esp. the nsx is weak. You want as much tire as you can get without screwing up tcs and not rubbing.Would I put a 245 tire on a 7.5 rim... no, but as we have seen time and time again on prime there is always a bell curve, and there will always be folks 2+ SD from the mean:wink:

I'm using statistics as a way to make my point that you have too narrow a wheel for the rear of an nsx.SD=standard deviations.

I don't think 17X7.5 all around is going to work.
Stock tire sizes for 17" wheels are: 215/40/17 F and 255/40/17 R.
I may be wrong, but I don't think you can squeeze in a 255/40/17 tires onto a 17X7.5 wheel. 17X9.5 wheels are recommended for the rear.

For the OP, I agree that a 245/255 rear would work.

For the latest postings regarding 7.5 all around, 7.5 is narrow for a 245/255. For 7.5 all around I'd probably go with a 205/235 stagger. Of course, tire widths vary by manufacturer so it's best to consult their spec sheets to see how wide the tires are and what rim widths they recommend.
