Deleted information now that Dan has got what he needs. I hate to leave personal info sitting out there on an individual for all to search with all the crazies out there. :)

Niiiicccceeee! Now I know where to go next time I need to whack someone. Hopefully it's not like carfax and someone is gonna get their account suspended.

There is a million dollar idea right there. Peoplefax. Gives you all the background information on someone before you date or do business with them.

People fax reports...Jane doe

Jane ripped off her last boyfriend cleaning out 3 bank accounts and leaving him while he was at work.

Jane claims to have a MBA when in fact she barely finished high school

Jane has been known in the past to steal from the houses of people she has dated.

Then there could be a section where people who have interacted with Jane can post and Jane can post rebuttals.

Man I wish I had the ambition to follow up on this idea. I bet it would work.

Great idea until everyone sues everyone else for libel and character defamation. No investor in their right mind would touch that :). I love the idea though!!!

I believe they made a skit on that idea in the movie "Amazon Women on the Moon".

Funny idea though.

google / zabasearch / etc

there are a number of interest-specific silo sites... seems likely there's an "easy means" (current site) to aggregate their results.

Look what I found...

LOL

I am glad there isn't a peoplefax. That would be bad.

Weren't we going to start our own CarFax competition company? It should be pretty easy to do since it doesn't have to be acurate by any means and nobody is watching over your shoulder. PeopleFax. I like it!

I think we both know there is way better information than carfax. Carfax is a joke and provides nothing for your money. Someone please show me an example where carfax came up with information you would not have got right off the title, valuable information that is. I am talking about branding information.

I bet if some 2nd hand NSX owners could run a real background check on their cars they would be shocked at the real history.

Somebody out there might think they are the 4th owner of this pristine 91...

But I have some bad news for them

Oh let me guess....clean carfax too. LOL

Yep. It should be illegal for carfax to charge for information that has no value.

Didn't we look up some info on your old Ford Lightning(s) years ago? That still just blows me away.

You mean that I totaled them and then rebuilt them and they had clean titles or the fact that after several owners they ended up in Puerto Rico? I thought that was really strange.

Both. But the strange part was CarFax was clean wasn't it?

I've heard http://www.autocheck.com/ works better, no?

No, none of those sites provide anything that you couldn't find for free. None of those sites provide anything to prove or disprove the character of the person selling you the car.

Imagine going to buy a NSX and knowing that the car was involved in an accident in 1997. Well....carfax wasn't around in 1997 but title branding was. So if the title was branded from the accident and the car has changed hands carfax will report the title being branded. You know what else...if the title is branded you can save your 20 bucks and just look at the title, the brand is right there, it's printed on the title.
Whats not printed on the title is ALL accidents, The only time a car gets branded is if it gets totaled in an accident, flood, fire, theft. All other little accidents, some not so little when you look at the cost of an NSX, DO NOT SHOW UP ON CARFAX. In this thread a few post above this one is a NSX that hit a deer and peeled the roof back. That car has a clean carfax. Carfax reports a clean title history. What carfax implies but never says is that the car has no accidents. Fact is this isn't true and they should have to have a huge font disclaimer to that fact.

what I am getting at is the insurance industry does have the information that is valuable but they aren't selling it. The insurance company can tell you if even the windshield has been replaced in the car, as long as a claim has been filed. The insurance company knows about most fender benders, except those that are not turned in. Fact is if that info was available I bey a lot less claims would be turned in. The insurance companies could win on both ends save with less claims, make money by selling information.

See carfax, carfax commercials, Just rub me the wrong way. They set the stage to make it appear as though you are getting inside information when you really aren't. The make it appear as though you are not going to buy a car that has been in an accident, when you do in fact end up with a damaged car with a clean carfax.
