Shift Light in NSX-R Gauges...

I'm curious if anyone has adapted the OEM NSX-R gauge cluster into their X. It has a "shift timing indicator" that I'd love to have.
I scanned a couple of photos of what I'm talking about for those who've never heard of this. But for those who have heard of it, what all is involved in switching? Is it even possible or worth the expense? & that brings up another good point.... what's a set of NSX-R gauges gonna run me? and where would I get such thing (Chris@SoS)? If anybody has any more information on this, I'd really appreciate it. It doesn't have to be immediate, as I'm in no rush, but still.....the sooner, the better, obviously.

TIA,
Adam

I'm not really sure what you mean by "pill." Are you asking if the shift points are adjustable? I don't know, but it might say in the text of pic, however, I can't read it. It looks like they are tuned to a specific shift point per the factory according to the diagram. Hope that helps a little.

The left vertical column says 1st gear, 2nd gear, 3rd gear and up.

In first gear, soft green light will emit from 6000rpm-7100rpm, intense green light will lit from 7100rpm-7400rpm.

In second gear, soft red light will emit from 7200rpm-7500rpm, intense red light will lit from 7500rpm-8000rpm.

For 3rd gear and up, soft green light from 6750rpm-7100rpm, intense green light from 7100rpm-7400pm. Soft red light from 7300rpm-7700rpm, intense red light from 7700rpm-8000rpm.

Shift timing indication, exclusively on the NSX-R.

Shift points are set from the factory, not adjustable.

Thanks for the info, Nimbus.

Are you saying it's not possible to retrofit it to an NA1/NA2 NSX?

I realize that it is only offered from the factory on the NSX-R, but since those are still unavailable to us here in the US, my question remains, can this be adapted to work on a non-R model?

Again, thanks for the responses and keep 'em coming.

Shift light NSX-R gauges

Hi,

these gauges are not available.

Nevertheless if you could organize a set, you would notice that the wiring setup, you would need, isnt installed at your (and our) NSX(s).

You can find out a specialist, will work this out for you.
Another chance is to get the big manual from NSX-R.
(where the electrical lines are discribed)
Also impossible, because from this japanese manual, there is no english version available.
I have informed me about this too.

I would take this as an alternative thing:

or
http://www.daliracing.com/v666-5/catalog/index_browse_part.cfm?focus=1106

Hope that helps you.

Last summer I drove the NSX-R (NA2) and my impression was, that these 2 lights looks nice, but makes not really sense, because for my taste they begin to light too early and they are not adjustable.
Nice toy, but not really racy.

It loooks nice!

I installed something similar in my gauge cluster. The setup has 2 LEDs installed. Using the AEM EMS, you can configure two shift points. Here's a pict...

Thanks for the insight, Procar.

Chris, those LED's look great! That seems like the best alternative to having the actual OEM part. From what Procar says though, I can't get that part (wiring is also different), have you heard anything to the contrary? I would guess not since you didn't install it in your X (and had it been available, I'm sure you would have). Well, I guess I'll just have to keep searching..... what about ordering direct from the factory (mucho $$$$, I'm sure) but still possibly available? Or maybe grab some one off a nicely wrecked NSX-R out of Japan? Just a couple of thoughts.... thanks for all the help, guys.
