SOS/Downforce Sport Wide Front Fender Owners

No, you could push as hard as you wished, there was no way to get the fender further inwards:mad:
The fitter had to go inside the wing and cut 1 cm out before rebonding the inside and the outside of the wing.
At 75$ an hour, the wing is no longer cheap....

Hopefully it's an issue that downforce has squared away. How is the fit with you guys' fender liners?

Bumping this thread back up.

I think I have more questions then answers after researching the limited number of threads on this product. I need some help understanding the reality with these fenders. I plan on calling DF to understand the answers from the manufacturer but appreciate real world feedback on the product.

1) Fender Width: As I've read on the SOS website these fenders are 1/4" wider (6.35mm). I've read a couple of posts that say it is more like 1/2" per side. Can anyone confirm how much wider per side the fenders are?

2) Mounting: I realize the NSX body panels are massaged at the factory to some extent. How much "work" do these fenders require? The marketing appears they just bolt-on but others have said find a good body shop. Again what is the reality and as Turbo2go points out in the above post has DF resolved any of the issues? What are the exact issues? Can someone highlight/circle a picture with the problem?

3) Shaping/Priming: I understand they come primed ready to be painted and put on the car. Again, how much of this is marketing versus fixing issues in the FRP?

I just want to know what I am getting into here.

Thanks in advance.

They are 1/4 of an inch each side and does make a big difference.

Fender will require some time and hours to get it to fit right. Get a shop that knows what they are doing. It can be done cause I've done it.

Buy it, find the right person to work on it, after that prime, paint, wet sand and buff you wont be able to tell it aftermarket fenders

Apparently the 1/4" extra width makes it possible to fit 8.5" front wheels nicely under them (offset dependent), though I'm not sure if they rub the liners still.

Are you talking about downforce? I've never heard of a "GTS" fender from them. 25mm is a lot. What happens to the fender liner?

DF has two style wide front fenders. The JDM wide front fenders which is what i have to go with the stock body and the GTS wide front which is for the wide body style.

The GTS is an inbetween fender. You can see pics in my build thread. They have three models Stock style +10 GTS +25 and GTR + 50
GTS keeps the stock liner

My main reason for getting these fenders...

I needed one replacement fender, and the cost of one oem new fender vs the cost of this pair was close.

I also wanted sidemarkers to get rid of the reflector.

I liked the choice of upgrading to wider tires and wheels.

Are you sure about this? The GTS is an inch wider and retains the fender liner? How can that be?

Does the GTS front fender work with oem front bumper and oem side skirts?

It will work but will look unproportioned. Those GTS fenders are more of a wide body look. To keep the OEM look you will want to go with the JDM DF wide front fenders. No matter which fenders you go with it will require some work to fit right. That's just how it is when you go with aftermarket fiberglass parts. Bottom line...

 I was nice enough to grab some photos of mine and Caroline-NSX's cars together to compare the DF fenders side by side to the OEM. He is running 25mm spacers front and rear on the familiar OEM wheels. These certainly seem wider than 1/4" over stock in person, more like 1/2" or more considering I ran the same wheels with 25mm spacers in the front and they were pretty flush.

Hi Kouki,

I was looking at your build thread trying to find pics of the GTS fender.

All I saw was the widebody fender. Got any recent pics? I'm hoping the GTS fender looks relatively "stock".

Can I run a 225-40-17 with the SOS fenders and fender liner?
Yes, you definitely can.
Here's a picture of mine with 235/40*17 tires mounted on 8" wheels with an ET of 33 mm.
I only hope they will require less work to fit than mine did...
