Timing Belt and?

I'm about ready to pop for timing belt for my '92 with 50K miles. Dealer has a belt and water pump pkg price for $1350. Are there easily reached hoses etc. that should also be replaced at the same time they are doing the belt/pump? I would appreciate any specifics. Thanks

Yes, this is a good time to replace all the cooling system hoses. I'm not sure if it saves any labor or not, but it's about time to replace hoses that are eleven years old, as good preventive maintenance.

The main ones are the three just below the coolant tank, and the two up front by the radiator. The difficult ones are the two small ones by the oil cooler.

Do a search here on "timing belt" and "coolant hoses" to review all the threads on the subject. (No, I am not the "Forums Nazi!!

Who has replaced all 22 hoses? It looks like a lot of labor. And I mean a LOT.

I personally worry most about the 3 main hoses Larry mentioned. Then the two up front. Then the rest according to how hot they get, how much pressure they are under, and how exposed they are to the elements.

Guys,

I mentioned the 2 small hoses by the oil cooler becuase if you have headers, there is a lot more heat down there, and these could also be suspect. Additionally, these are such a pain to do, it may get overlooked.

Obviously, the price is going to vary from one dealer to another. $1200-1500 is a typical range nationwide. $1000 is quite a bargain.
