does anyone have a suggestion for me on tire sizes??? i am in the process of buying a set of rims. the sizes are 17x7 front and 18x9 rear. what different tire size combinations can i use with these rim sizes???? my car is a 96 and has stock suspension. any help would be welcomed. please feel free to provide other size options too. thanks !!!!

You can't go wrong with 215/40/17-265/35/18.you have the option of 225/40or235/40 up front as well as 235/35.In back you might get 275/35/18 or 255/40,or255/35/18,these alternatives are only extremes if you are limmited by tire selection, but there is wide choices in my first size option.Just remember to keep within 5% of the stagger in size of the oem,to maintain proper tcs.

i'm not sure about some of these recommendations. there really are no alternatives to 215/40-17 in front. 225/40-17 doesn't exist and i wouldn't even think about mounting a 235 section tire on a 7" wide (or should i say narrow) rim.

265/35-18 will work for the rear, but 255/35-18 is better supported by the 9" wheel width. i also like that this size is closest to the stock outer diameter, so it doesn't lengthen the gear ratios and change the speedometer reading. stay away from 255/40 for this reason.

i have wheels of the same size, btw.

I have 18x9 rear wheels with 265/35-18 size tyres - the fitment is perfect. The tyre and wheel are flush. In the front I have 17x8 wheels with 215/40-17 tyres. The tyre bends inward slightly, 225 would have been a perfect fit (matching the rear as far as being flush with the wheel). I'm not sure about the front (7 inches) but I'd recommend 265 for the rears. Good luck.
