As you all may be aware, the 2010 NSXPO will be held in fabulous Las Vegas. This has the makings to easily be the largest NSXPO event ever with and anticipated attendance of approximately 200+ people. Because of the sheer size of the event, this will be quite a logistical challenge and your local chapter is furiously hard at work organizing this event. In our last meeting, I was informally designated to the be the Las Vegas liaison and help stir up interest in the event as well as answer any questions those who are planning to attend may have.

Please use this thread to post any questions you may have regarding the event. Please use this thread, and this thread only, and do not PM me (my inbox is nearly full and I will most likely not get the message.) Also keep checking this first message and I will constantly update it with the most important facts and information that you will need to know.

Thanks and look forward to seeing you in Vegas baby!

Unofficial Proposed Host Hotel
We are still hard at work taking bids for the best host hotel for our event. Currently the front runner is the SouthPoint Hotel and Casino. This is still tentative and subject to change. This hotel was chosen for many reasons. Among them are:

1) Reasonable rates for the quality of the rooms and hotel
2) Off Strip location for easier access (especially for those travelling from SoCal
3) Plenty of parking with pre-arranged lot for our event
4) Plenty of convention area for group events
5) Lots of food and entertainment options (restaurants, food court, movie theater, bowling alley etc.)

Unofficial Schedule: Please note this is only a very preliminary schedule of events. This is not the official schedule. I am merely providing it to help provide a rough idea of events and times.

Morning: Registration and Breakfast Kickoff meeting, Group orientation
Afternoon: Go Karts

Sat Oct 30

Optional Autocross, Death Valley Drive

Mon Nov 1

SEMA Show (This is an event independent of NSXPO, but we are working on getting a limited number of tickets for those interested in attending)

I'm sure the planning committee is working hard at all the arrangements. I thank you and everyone in advance for all the hard work.

The dates have already been announced (with the track event Sun-Mon Oct 31-Nov 1, and the social activities in the days immediately preceding that). I'm sure that you don't have any other details to announce at this point, but when will you be announcing stuff like the hotel information and detailed schedule of activities? (I'm guessing some time over the summer but I don't want to assume anything and even that is very vague anyway.)

I hear the theme for this year's event is "What happens at NSXPO, ..."

Posted from other thread:

I'm debating on flying vs. driving from Chicago. Just wondering about security of the cars? Has that been discussed? Just concerned after seeing this pic recently:

Thieves stole his Volk TE37's.

We are currently working out the details with our host hotel regarding security. We fully intend to have security covering our group lot at all times.

Good question and comment about security. I'll be driving my NSX with stock wheels mounted for the HPDE, so I won't need to worry about my fancy wheels being taken.

B,

Do you want me to call a few of my friends at other casinos to see what they can come up with? As you know this town is hungry so they should go out of their way to attract us. I have good contacts at Las Vegas Hilton and the Palms.

Also, if a nightlife tour is wanted I am sure Mikey will help in that arena as well.

Ken,

I think we are almost locked in to our host hotel. There are a lot of details and reasons why we went the way we did even though it may not seem obvious at first. We still have needs for certain venues, so if you can make the next meeting that would be great. It should be on the 21st at Hash House A Go Go near your house. Check out the sign up in the Vegas forum. Also we can talk about our "project" there as well.

For those that have attended an NSXPO before. Is there any benefit to doing early registration other than avoiding much longer wait times on the actual registration day?

In NSXPO 2005 there was an early registration discount. By registering early, you get a discount because you're filling up some of the contracted space for hotels, events, etc....

Any info on possible guest speakers? I'm tyring to figure out my schedule to make it out for NSXXXPO this year.

I was checking Las Vegas Hotels and started with the proposed hotel listed for concideration. Is there any confirmation on this. I checked dates people would arrive and depart there IE:26th Oct to Nov 3rd or earlier. I suppose since it's around SEMA time things will start to fill up quick.

=g= =)

We got a killer rate of 60 (Wed/Thurs/Sunday) and 90 (Fri/Sat). We should have the contract done as soon as they forward it to NSXCA. Only thing holding up the agreement is the 15/day internet charge. The service is outsourced and the hotel does not have much wiggle room. I'm trying o get them to either discount the internet or drop the room rate some more to compensate.

So I've got a question - any big name DJs going to be in town this weekend? Again, thanks to SEMA, I would want to purchase tickets early!

So that Saturday is the Photo line up of all the NSX's? I just wanna make sure my car is in that Photo. and is there Late Registration? Just wondering. I will be there, but driving from Florida is about 1.5 days and then driving back is 1.5 days. just tring to get off of work for the correct amount of time. so that leaves me with 2-3 days in Vegas. LOL

and when and where do we pay for everything? I got my $$$ ready on stand-by!! LOL

the Photo event is One of the main Reasons for this trip.

Also the Hotel, I would like to book in advance so a room is available, I dont wanna call and no rooms available during the event so is this Hotel the final Host? I want to call them as soon as you know For Sure thats where we are staying.

Promo code or Group Code for reservations?

South Point is the host hotel. We will have a signed agreement very soon. Friday is the aerial shot of "THE NSX Formation". I'm impressed that you are driving this far and I will make sure you get an outside position so that you can easily ID your self.

Regards,

Danny

but driving from Florida is about 1.5 days and then driving back is 1.5 days.

Its about 2400 miles from tampa to vegas.....1.5 days is really pushing it, unless you have more than one driver.....even then you will need to stop for gas, etc....I have done over 1000 miles in a day average for 3 days straight, by myself, that was rough, of course that was when the speed limit was lower

For those that are concerned about stuff "happening" to their NSXs, why not get ZERO deductable on both collision and comprehensive insurance (at least for this event).

Uh... cause I may need my wheels to drive my car home? Having a zero deductable doesn't make up for a weekend of stress and misery. I'd prefer to have good security vs scrounging a junk yard for 4 wheels with tires... or an interior. lol

I think I will be the NSX that drives the furthest at the show! kinda feel proud. LOL

Shawn; I think there will be others driving similar distances. Myself I'm driving from Binghamton NY, though I will be allowing several days to do it.
I once drove a Porsche Boxster from Berkshire Ny to Chino Valley AZ, over 2300 miles, in 44 hours. That was quite a haul, I did stop near Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, for about 5 hours of sleep. I never ran into any delays, nor did I get any tickets. I won't be trying anything like that again. Howard
