Used CBR 600 advice F3 or F4?

Hey guys, I'm not sure how many bike guys we have here, but I thought I'd see if anyone had any input. I figured since I have an NSX and CRX, it is only right that I get another Honda with 3 initials :D

I had a 94 CBR 600F2 back in college and loved it. I am thinking I want to get a used bike to cruise around town on sundays, and maybe take to work a few times in the summer. Since I really only plan to drive it about 1000 miles/year at the very most I was thinking I would buy a used one as opposed to new. I know I don't want another F2 just becuase of age, does anyone here have seat time on both the F3 and F4's to tell me some of the differences? The guys at my local shop say it's mostly only looks that changed, but I just was not sure if I buy that. I tried to wade some of the cycle boards, but there is such childplay hapening everywhere I look that I really don't want to trust any of the opinions. Any thought are appriciated!

The F3 is very similar to your F2, the F3 would have a little more motor, due to ram air and larger carbs.
The F4 has better forks, they are larger dia, better rear suspension, stiffer frame, geometry is similar to the F2/F3.
The F4 has a little more motor, I think the F4 is a better looking bike.
The first year F4's had some cam bearing problems due to the oil feed in the head gasket being to small, it should either have been replaced or plan on replacing it.
Front brakes are better, larger rear rim means you can use a 180 rear tire.

As Arata stated the F3 and the F2 are very similar bikes. I have (2) that are for sale to replace them with either a F4i or the 600rr. Both bike are great units. I only kept my F3 for so long was because parts are so available for them. If by chance you drop it, these thing bounce right back up with little damage. The newer bike don't fall down as well.

I have always trusted the front of the f3 going into a corner. The f4 felt alittle notchy to me, but that could also could be due to the extra power and rolling on the throttle too soon. :D

I'm adding to the echo but they are very similar. I had a F2 frame with F4 suspension and F3 motor/bodywork. IMO the F4 is the best looking bike and if you're just gonna be crusing and going for looks i say get a F4i or new RR.

if you were gonna push the bike i would recommend a smaller displacement bike till you got the hang of things again THEN trade up. but if you just want a good looking bike and don't care whether you have 'chicken strips' or not then get the newer bikes they look better =P
