which first drive is first?

They're all very similar in tone and gist.

I would say Motor Trend is the most detailed and technical.

Car and Driver is a compromise of specifics and thoughts.

And then Road & Track is more from the heart and gut.


I'm guessing Auto Car gives a 'proper' critique (with 'proper' English), lol.

I think the reviews were positive.

-They all say with proper tires and track mode, the car is furiously fast. 0-60 is top notch.

-Many pointed out that the downfalls are all software and can easily be remedied.

-The videos displayed some good stuff and I actually liked the exhaust note even if it's not exciting as a Ferrari.

-They all questioned the notion of everday-supercar. Well, the first one was the same philosophy. It's an exotic sports car that can be driven anytime. It's not just a garage queen or summer/weekend car even if many people who buy it will treat it that way.

The price factor and weight are the largest critical points. However, I'm not surprised at the weight even if I wished it were closer to 3,500 lbs... Considering the performance outcome of 3 seconds or less 0-60 low 11 second 1/4 mile, I would say it's a proper successor to the original mid-engine, but on a massive performance enhancing regimen.

Now let's see how reliable all of this will be and how the final tunes are setup in production.

I am also happy with the news and reviews overall. They said it was faster to 60 than a 458, 911 Turbo and R8 so that was great news. I will have to wait for a head to head comparison before I can completely believe its faster than a 911 Turbo but it should be close.

Of course many of us were wanting the Michelins and although I am a little disappointed that they are not standard issue, I am happy it's an option and the engineers had planned for the handling characteristics that they would bring to the chassis.

I am also excited that pretty much everyone love the forward visibility. It may not be quite as good as the original's but it sounds like its better than most of its competitors.

And there is time to perfect this gem before the official launch. I can see them hitting it out of the park with this car when it finally hits the marketplace.

Oh and of course I love the Blue they went with, on the one pre-production car. :smile:

The Blue was the most striking out of all the reviewed cars. Even better than the new White color IMO ;-)

I think most of car guys knows the potency of the new NSX chassis and powertrain, even if it's not the most powerful supercar from factory. Same story with the first gen, except this 2nd gen should be easier to extract power from just a software mod and maybe louder exhaust BPU style...

I think the acceleration times are conservative estimates. I venture to guess it'll break 10 seconds if it does sub 3 seconds, bringing it into 488 territory. Only time will tell.

Lastly, even if I'm the first one to mention it, it sounds like the car is getting 25 mpg on a regular driving routine. I get about 24 in the city if I'm driving like a civilized human being in my NSX so it's nice to see a 3,800 lb, 600 hp super car do the same today.
 
I wonder how many people's minds have changed one way or the other, specially those who are on the waiting list. For me, I'm gravitating towards giving up my waitlist spot in favor of driving this thing first....
 
MPSC2's are not ideal street tires, not sure why so many folks would like them as standard equipment for a car that is not a track oriented car.

As expected it uses brake by wire, just imagine all the headaches people will have running more aggressive pads with different coefficient of friction as well as operating temperature characteristics.

Swapping to tires that have more grip or less grip than the standard continentals or optional MPSC2 will more than likely confuse the systems on board, can't expect Acura/Honda to test all the possible permutation of tires.

Probably not an issue for people who will be driving the car stock on the streets.

3800lbs is extremely heavy, just like the heavy R35 GT-R the car will probably understeer quite a bit.

Had zero interest in buying one and still have zero interest after the reviews, even a Type-R won't be that appealing unless they can bring the car down to 3000lbs. Losing 800lbs will be a long battle.
