Using cerium oxide is the way to go. Lightly sand if it is for glass light lenses, (this is not about glass windscreens) then make the paste with cerium oxide and water. But I prefer to polish by hand or by a slow (!) speed wheel. It will take longer, but this will not produce excessive heat...

They go over the wire cables running over the front valve cover at the right side. You should already have them on your engine, but in black.The attached picture is the wire cables without the covers 'A' and 'B'. I'm sure you will easily find them on some drawing in the manuals.(service manual...

Good idea. It happens the second diffuser I am working on now will incorporate a third element shaped just like the original two you suggest cutting. This because I want to be able to go back to original any time.
