    Fuel Pump Recall 18-19

Just received a recall notice from Acura for my 2019 model. Notice says the repair will take 9.5 hours - holy cow!

Anyone else wonder why we need a 50lb lead starter battery?

Forgot to take pics during install, but here you can see the finished install - not particularly pretty, but all hidden under a panel anyways. The antigravity terminals are much closer together, so I cut the top of the battery box lid with a grinder then sealed with black foil duct sealing tape...

Any reason to not buy the orange 2019?

Love my Orange 2019 with the black interior. Have black wheels and chrome delete so its pretty much just black and orange on the car, looks pretty exotic. If you do get one, be prepared to get lots of attention. I mean, lots. More than any car I've owned by a large margin.

Anyone else wonder why we need a 50lb lead starter battery?

I went with the size I selected not because we need massive CCA to start the car, but because mine is a bit of a garage queen and sits for up to 2-3 weeks at a time. Antigravity suggested going with the more powerful version as it will last longer with passive drain from the car sitting for...

Anyone else wonder why we need a 50lb lead starter battery?

Good research, and while I agree the battery I got was "overkill" in terms of CCA, I went bigger at Antigravitie's advice because the real issue is slow parasitic discharge on cars not driven regularly. Sadly, mine sits for 2-3 weeks sometimes, and full discharge is bad for lithium batteries...

Anyone else wonder why we need a 50lb lead starter battery?

In the process of moving right now, will try to post pics when I have my car and camera in the same place. Again, I tried the RS-30 model and it didn't work, (battery turned itself off after every 2nd drive) and the folks at Antigravity suggested it was a problem on cars with actively managed...

Anyone else wonder why we need a 50lb lead starter battery?

I got mine for $450 with no tax using a ebay seller and going direct to their website. I use industrial strength velcro strips to secure the battery, then put it in the battery box and then used the metal hold down, so there is no way its going anywhere. You don't want a model with restart -...

Anyone else wonder why we need a 50lb lead starter battery?

Did a long write up on this with pros and cons, but it seems lost in moderator land and won't post. in short, with a fair amount of work customizing the battery cooling box, I was able to fit a ATX-30-HD - and be sure to get the one WITHOUT restart.

Anyone else wonder why we need a 50lb lead starter battery?

Your information confirms what I was told by the folks at AntiGravity, that certain cars with "active" battery management (ours appears to be one) are problematic for the Antigravity battery line that has the restart feature - because the antigravity battery turns itself off when voltage drops...

Don't know what or who Tomoske is, but I'm definitely not one.

Anyone else wonder why we need a 50lb lead starter battery?

Wow, I've been a member in good standing in half a dozen forums with previous cars I've owned, never had so many (well, actually any that I can remember) posts held up for review by moderators, never to be seen again. What am I doing wrong? Can't even seem to reply to my own thread to help...

Anyone else wonder why we need a 50lb lead starter battery?

OP here, DrManny, your information confirms what I was told by the folks at AntiGravity, that certain cars with "active" battery management (ours appears to be one) are problematic for the Antigravity battery line that has the restart feature - because the antigravity battery turns itself off...

Just did my first oil change...

^^ This. Yes, I warmed engine before draining, and yes clearance under ramps is definitely restrictive. On the other hand, pulling the oil filter was actually much easier than I expected. The Form a Funnel (medium size) was the perfect length, and did a great job of catching the small amount...

Just did my first oil change...

For those DIY'ers out there, don't be afraid to try, it's not all that hard - 7 oil plugs to drain, and the filter is a bit tricky to remove without spilling, but otherwise not too different from the typical car. There is a Youtube video of a dealer mechanic doing an oil change service, and I...

Motortrend tests the new corvette, if true, NSX needs to step its game up

So I'll be the first to agree that GM's design and build quality will not meet that of an Acura, and I don't care for the styling, and the cheap off-the-shelf looking parts (have you seen the cheap tiny rotors on the base car?), but if this review is correct, the base model C8's acceleration and...
