Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize

I agree that claims of "right" -ness are often used to justify killing in often transparently cynical attempts to justify actions that are clearly wrong. That does nothing to mitigate the fact that in some cases, there are legitimate "right" reasons for killing. The right of self...

What do you buy AFTER you've owned an NSX ?

I've got my sights on a '02-'03-'04 Vanquish. While I can probably afford to buy a Lambo or a Ferrari, I also probably can't afford to keep it running.

    E-mail disaster!

I think that if you forward them, the chain remains. While he will not be able to use the "Reply" button, the original sender address should be easily accessible in the body of the mail, or he can just hit "reply to all" and suffer through receiving another email (from himself)

Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize

You are arguing in support of moral relativism. In essence you are claiming that there is no position extant that can be considered "Right", or that all points of view have equal validity. Beyond that, you incorrectly try to remove actions from their context, when context is everything in...

    DirecTV LIES

AT&T U-verse is horrible. Clunky interface, odd ginks in programming DVR schedule, strange outages... The only reason we have it is because the attached internet service is blindingly fast. Not so sure how having more options (we already have at least four options) in some "bigger" free...

    E-mail disaster!

It's been a while since I switched over to Macs, so my memory might be fuzzy, but... In Outlook in "Connections" or "Tools" you should be able to set it to not download messages automatically from the server. Forward or send all the emails to yourself (from Outlook). Download them into your...

Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize

Rome only survived because of wars of conquest and tribute paid to Rome by the conquered territories. The United States, regardless of the questionable wisdom of entering the wars it has or its past sins, is in no way equitable to ancient Rome, either in actions foreign or domestic.

Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize

Not to flame here, but I wonder what gives you authority to claim what is the "Bottom line". By applying your logic, wherein all deaths are essentially equivalent, and all motives are held to be equivalent because every person who kills is doing what he thinks it's "right", we end up with a...

    robotics: Indoor Autonomous Helicopter

I didn't hear it in the narration. Was the entire processor package mounted on the UAV, or was it datalinked to an outboard system?

    A tragedy in the works.

I have two boys. At least one is hiding something from us at any given moment.

    A tragedy in the works.

Your math is right, but... Unless the cop that ran up to it was 8 feet tall, I don't see how the envelope could have been four feet tall...even if it had not been almost 1/3 deflated as it was in early on in the videos. Beyond that, how much did the craft weigh even without the kid? It was...

    A tragedy in the works.

I could be wrong, but unless this was a very light 6 year old, I am betting that he never was in the balloon. It takes a lot of helium to lift 45 or so pounds. Like over 700 cubic feet of it. WAG prediction: Kid accidentally let the balloon go and is hiding from mom & Dad. At least I hope so.
