17"f/17"r...How's this work?

I've seen a few guys doing this, although I don't know what tire sizes they were using and I'm curious about tire size options that may work.

The wheels are 17x7.5" +50 front, and 17x9" +44 rears, and have some RE-11's in S2000 sizes that are shot.

The wheels themselves are for an S2000 (obviously, in these fitments) but if push came to shove and I wanted to use them on an NSX I think it could be done. I just want to know what would be needed to make it work.

Here's what they look like:

Any help answering these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Absolutely they will. The 02+ NSX came with 17/17.

My NSX-R rims are 17x7 +35mm front / 17x9 +45mm rear

Yokohama S drives in
215/40-17 and 255/40-17

You could achieve similiar offsets via spacers. Wheels would probably look pretty good as well. I ran a simliar style wheel on my car... Although in 18/18.

Many will say that only 17/18... 18/19 look right but if the suspension is set right and tire sizes are point on I think that 17/17 and 18/18 can look good as well.

Chris, I friggin LOVE your car, man.

How 'bout some 205/40R17...think that'll work without setting a TCS light?

They will look great. Go with 10 - 15 mm spacers to have ET 35-40 font and 30-35 rear.

No rub w/ this?

Also, are we talking spacers like this?

or like this?

How much and where to buy if they are like the first style?

front 215/40/17
rear 255/40/17

17x11 is MUCH too wide for a 255/40-17 tire. Most 255/40's are only approved for mounting on wheels 8.5-10.0 inches wide. If you go wider, you're taking a significant risk of tire failure due to excessive flex in the sidewalls. BAD IDEA.

205/40-17 fronts and 255/40-17 rears will work on any year NSX without causing problems for the TCS. However, 215/40-17 fronts are better for the handling.

None of them. First only take hubcentric ones with a centering ring. If you go 10 or 15 mm, you will need to pull out the stock studs to put longer ones. H&R makes good hubcentric spacers.

ARP studs, maybe? Or are you saying that H&R makes spacers with extended studs that are hubcentric? Also, where can I get them?

For best overall fitment, am I aiming for a +35 offset all the way around? I'd need a 15mm spacer in the front and a 10mm spacer in the rear. This isn't too aggressive, is it?

Lastly, will these wheels fit the car as is without problems, or are these offsets a big no-no? (Remember, +50 front, +44 rear) Ken, maybe you know?

I'm asking these questions because the car I'm looking at buying has flat spotted tires, so I'm thinking about putting new tires on these wheels and shipping them to a friend in the area to hold so that when I get down there I can just swap wheels for the drive back and ship the other wheels home. The wheels that are on the car aren't worth putting new tires on, I'm just going to try to sell the wheels when I get home anyhow, so this seems like the best option for me.

Guys, I appreciate the help!

H&R does indeed make their TRAK+ wheel adapters with their own studs, and the adapters are hubcentric; they have a lip that extends out from the spacer and functions as a centering hub. Below is a photo from the H&R website. I'm sure you can find out where to buy them by calling the toll-free number shown at the bottom of the H&R website (click here).

I don't know which offsets do and don't work, sorry.

Speaking of 17/17. Is the reason of two different sized wheels because of the oem suspension on 91-01 cars?

Like ntenseone I have wheels from an s2000 that i would like to use on my future nsx. I wanted to know the reason behind the 16/17, 17/18 and ect... sizing.

The NSX needs tires with smaller outer diameters in the front than in the rear. They designed it that way primarily to keep the intrusion of the wheel wells into the passenger compartment to a minimum, so as to permit enough room for the driver's legs to be positioned comfortably straight ahead in the seat, rather than slanted to an angle towards the center.

The reason different sized wheels were used to accomplish the difference in tire diameters is because the alternative, using same-diameter wheels front and rear, means a more substantial difference in sidewall height, front vs rear, which looks unbalanced (and may have an impact on handling also).

^ i see. If were buy wheels and tires to the same specs as 02+ I should be fine correct?

I am currently running 17"/17" in the setup of 215 40 front and 245 40 rear. I Occasionally get interference from the TCS only in second gear if I get on the gas hard below 4000 rpm. I would have gone with 255 in the rear but was concerned with the fact that the wheels are 8" width.

Here is what it looks like:

That's a really unusual setup. Most folks with 17"/17" wheels (including those with stock '02-05 wheels) use rear wheels that are between 9" and 10" wide, enabling them to use the more TCS-friendly sizes of 215/40-17 and 255/40-17.

I wound up getting the spacers, and for the time being, I'm running the XD-9's that I had sitting around.

Thanks for all your input guys. I appreciate it!

Nice. What tires did you end up running? 215/40 s-drives?

Bridgestone RE760's

205/40 front
255/40 rear

What spacers you run up front
