If you haven't heard, there is a new Galactica series in the works called Caprica.

I hadn't heard that. Of course, I have a much more open mind about that show than I did about the new BSG...I expected it to suck, and it ends up being one of my all-time favorite sci-fi shows.

I think this season (five) is the worst so far. It's getting slightly better right at the end now, but to me, the first 3 seasons are the best. I think the reason is that they are getting a little too good at writing the script so that it's "easy" or "convenient" to edit into real time footage, where in the first few seasons, the plot was more multi-threaded--many things happening at the same time. I miss the more frenetic pace of those earlier seasons.

Ok. Someone please tell me why they would not have made multiple copies of the "evidence" tape the second it got to CTU?? And why wouldn't Karen listen to the tape immediately since she is risking her career on it?

That just makes me mad.

yeah, Jack shoulda played it over the phone to them the minute he got it. Also that plane coulda landed at a lot of airports in the LA area. THere's LOTS of airports East of Van Nuys airport...but its just a TV show.

Because it's 24 and over and over again, the writers ignore things like this just to raise the drama. I assume that chain of evidence and forensics mean they need to work from the original (unless they can do a bit for bit copy, I assume they can since it appeared to be a digital recording device) but there was nothing preventing them from playing it over the phone or making copies immediately.

I don't know where the plane was, but 'over the desert' I assumed might be eastern cali... are there airports out there with 5000 foot of runway? What highway did they land on? We could check it out on a map to get a better idea.

He just killed a bunch of people and almost crashed a jetliner to get that recording back and then he just hands it to chloe and goes to visit his girlfriend?....come on:rolleyes:

I was very disappointed with yesterday's episode of 24. So many people are risking their careers listening to Jack, yet conveniently no one has requested to hear the tape the instant the tape entered CTU. Also, why would you not make a copy? The guy can make zip discs self destruct, he can answer his cell phone in the belly of an airplane 30,000 ft in the air, have everything from maps to live streaming porn displayed on his pda, yet doesn't have the ability to replicate a friggin tape??

*okay* *okay* *calm down*......*its just a tv show*.....

Because they have to flush out the inside man.
The tape is no big deal.. It is copied somewhere. The question is, who are the people with their hands up the Presidents ass, so deep that the puppeteers had him about to eat a hot one?

Just another example of how poorly written and predictable the show is. Once jack the recording all he had to do was call CTU on his cell phone and play the damn recording. But gee, then he couldn't have stowed onto the plane and make everyone suffer through another couple of excrutiatingly painful to watch episodes.

Can't wait for the return of The Shield!

For that matter, once Jack was again in posession of the tape after obtaining it from the co-pilot, wouldn't you at least want to listen to the recording once again?...

If not to make sure you are not being delusional about the tape in the first place, as a result of not sleeping for the last 18hrs, then at least to make sure the tape was not tampered with, and that the tape is not a decoy??????

everyone needs to chill. i don't think anyone is selling the show as a true-as-it-gets show. why not pick apart the looney toons since animals can't talk.

you don't think 24 is plausible yet you think Lost is one of the best shows? where's the logic there?? I watch Lost because my wife likes it. But I get so irritated because the plot doesn't ever seem to go anywhere. I wonder if the writers even have a clue where the storyline is headed.

as a side note...

i wonder why hollywood continues to promote certain silly stereotypical scenes like police always coming to a screeching halt at crime scenes or the beeping, blipping, chirping noises as people type on computers or tires burnout noises in snow, dirt, or rain.

maybe we are so use to it that anything else would seem strange.

another side note... I worked at the studio in Canada, right down the hall from where they film Battlestar last winter... it was pretty funny to walk into the bathroom when it's packed full of "space ranger" extras getting ready

Hate to remind everyone of the obvious, but its pretty easy to pick apart the plot and story mechanics of almost any TV series. C'mon fellas...it's light entertainment, not a treatise by John Locke - - it's not going to be perfect. If you can't shut down or dial down your overclocked left-brain tv filter, then tune into the history channel.

Yeah, it was silly that no one demanded to hear the recording for themselves, but personally, it doesn't ruin the show for me. I watch to see Jack Bauer kick @$$ and chew gum and my boy is all out of gum!

My dad pointed this out to me...while watching the Centox gas at the gas place scene...this show does in a way show terrorists (you bastards!) what they can do to strike a nation wide panic. YES it is a show YES it entertains people but YES it can lead some idiots to believe and to do things that would be terroristic (is that a word, terroristic?)

Still its an awesome show, and even better in HD with 5.1, no doubt.

The season finale is on tonight for 2 hours. therefore, the show starts 1 hour earlier than before - 8PM PST instead of 9PM PST.

Man, that's what Tivo's for anyway!
We actually typically watch 2 & 1/2 men during the first half hour anyway, because we can't stand the waiting through the commercial breaks - with TIVO we just wiz right on through them!
Tivo kicks ASS!!!!!! (just like Jack!)

Just what I was thinking. Although in my case it's missing the Clippers vs Suns game 7. Man, I gotta break down and get TIVO.:frown:

Jack is in the $hit now!! The chinese are going to mess him up good. You had to know that situation wasn't going to just go away. Jack goes from the rescuer to the rescued! Wonder who's going to be the resident bad ass now that Jack is out of commission. If the writers are smart they will take the opportunity this Chinese kidnapping and torture situation presents and really let us get a peek at what's in Jacks head, how he does what he does, how the death of his wife changed him....all that psychological jazz.

Ahhh Yeah!! It's on now!!!
