My 91 has a noisy AC compressor. The mechanic at Acura said when he heard it that the bearings are going and if they fail completely I will have other problems as well. So I have been messing around with the idea of replacing it soon. Through a family service station I can get the compressor pretty reasonably. I would need, and prefer by the way, to remove and install myself. I can then have it evacuated and charged.
My questions to the forum are: How difficult is the labor, has anyone performed this work, and should I attempt it as a competent but amatuer mechanic?
