***Text Box Error UPDATE***
Folks- we were able to fix the underlying issue with the missing text box on the forum. Everything should be back to normal.

Seems that all short gear mods are aimed at the '91-'96 NSX's. Are there short gears available for '97-'01 NSX's? What is the gearing in a S-Zero? Is it the Japaneese gearing or the 6 speed US gearing?
All 6-speeds use the same gears. There are no aftermarket gears being sold for them, because the 6-speeds fix the big jump between gears you find on the 5-speeds.
You can, however, get a 4.55 R&P for the 6-speeds from Comptech.
The ring and pinion gear is the "final drive gear". Changing the ratio on it is like shortening ALL the gears in your transmission. The main advantage of doing so is better acceleration; the disadvantage is worse gas mileage and lower top speed and slightly more noise. However (as Lud is fond of pointing out), the gearing for the six-speed top gear with 4.55 R&P is almost exactly the same as the gearing of the five-speed with stock R&P, so the drawbacks aren't all THAT substantial.
You can read about the different gearsets in the Gears section of the FAQ.

I believe all six-speed NSX's have the same stock gearing, including the normal JDM version, the S-Zero JDM version, and normal U.S. version, and the Zanardi U.S. version.
