Anyone interested in a "regrease your window track" day?

I have a 92' NSX and my driver's windows rolls up pretty slow now. I think I need to remove the window tracks and remove the old hardened grease and regrease them. If anyone is interested in doing the same, I thought it would be nice to get a few NSX's together and try to do this. If anyone has done this and knows how to do it, please let us know if you would like to help us out. We can meet at my shop www.automalltintspecialist.com in Fremont if that is convenient for everyone.
Please post if you are interested in participating so I can try to figure out which day will fit the majority. I would definitely prefer a Sunday.

Hi Litespeeds,
I am interested in something like this, but my only limitation is if it occurs about a month from now. My car is still in the shop.
I have greased my windows before, but I don't know if I did it correctly.

Thanks.

Vytas and I did this DIY on my window tracks and it made a difference. You will need to get special grease that is supplied by the Honda Dealer (urea grease?). It comes in a small can and goes a long, long way - you can do many cars with just one can. You don't have to remove the window tracks to do this. Its as easy as just removing the inside door liner and greasing the tracks. The shop manual provides good diagrams of what you need to grease. Keep this thread going. I'll volunteer to come by the shop and help if I am available on the scheduled day.

Hi Nalesh,
I recall Vytas mentioning that you both did this. Thanks for your offer. I will also speak with Vytas to see if he is interested.

Take Care.

Hi guys,
I'm all in for this! I've been to busy lately with other projects to get to this!

I need to grease my rails along with installing the window fix it thingies.

I already have my jar of Urea grease and the "thingies".

Weekends work best.

Carlos

I'm in too!
mostly, I need help installing a "thingy" on the passenger side. don't have the pliers & there's no way I could do it on my own.

Octan3
I've already carved up an old channel lock plier I had lying around. I hope it can do the job. Looks like there'll be some talented folks there to lend a hand.

Vytas' procedure to perform the "thingy" repair should make the repair a snap.

Saturday April 16th or Sunday the 17th or Sunday the 24th work best for me. I'm only available until noon on Saturday April 23rd and I'll be out of town the entire weekend of the 30th.

I'm in Sid. A Sunday would be fine. Do you think Rich would want to come over and give his input?

Rey, you can ask him to see if he has time to stop by.

I also have a pair of pliers that Juejuemon made specifically for the window fixit thingies. I can bring that for anyone to use. I did my driver's door but haven't done my passenger's side yet.

I have 2 locations that we can use. Please let me know which one is more convenient for the majority.

California Sunscreen
3013 Teagarden Street
San Leandro, CA 94577
This location is kind of noisy and can hold 3 cars in the garage. There are alot of parking in front. This location faces the freeway and will probably give alot of exposure to the passing cars on 880. Take the Marina East exit. 1st signal light, make a right onto Teagarden St. Go 1/2 mile and when the road starts curving to the left, I am at the tip of the curve on the right in the back facing the freeway.

Auto Mall Tint Specialist
43048 Christy Street
Fremont, CA 94538
This is in a quiet business park with lots of parking. The garage can only hold 2 cars at a time but there are alot of spaces everywhere. Take 880 and exit at Auto Mall Parkway West. 1st signal, make a right onto Christy St. Immediately make a right into the first driveway. We are directly across the street from a Shell Gas Station.

I am open to either Saturday or Sunday but usually I have to work on Saturday in Fremont. If the majority decides with Saturday, I would prefer to get together after 1pm so I can at least work on one car that morning before I do "personal" things. If it is Sunday, I would prefer the last Sunday in April which is the 24th.

The other option is the first Saturday of May which is the 7th after the luncheon. I figure since each of us will be working on their own vehicle, it shouldn't take more than a few hours to get all of this done. If we get together at around 1-2pm, that should give us plenty of time. What do you think?

I'm good with the Sunday the 24th

I should be available to help on either April 24 or May 7. I'll check back on the thread once the date is decided.

I would prefer May 7th.
I spoke with Vytas earlier today, and he'll probably post soon.

Thanks for arranging this Sid.

Hey Charles,
Are you ready to sell me your Tubi exhaust yet?

I think Vytas is the person who knows the most about regreasing these tracks so we should schedule around his time.

I have heard a couple of ways to regrease the window tracks but the best would be to actually remove the window and track and strip off the harden old grease and apply the new grease back in. I guess we can try a couple of different ways to see what works. Any suggestions?

So has everyone figured out which day would fit the majority yet? We can always wait until May or even June. I am not in a big hurry to do this but thought it would be nice to have other's that are having the same problems get together and make it a day.

I vote for Sunday the 24th..

Since this thread seems to be dying off, I think we will have to pick a date in May. I don't have enough people confirming for this Sunday and with the weather person saying that it might rain, I think we will pass for 4/24/05.

Don't be shy people. Let us all know which Sunday is the best day for you and we will try to figure out which day will fit the majority.

I'm out of town the following weekend so the Sunday the 8th should work..

Who's still interested for Sunday May 8th?

It would definitely be nice to have someone that has already done this to be present when we do the regreasing so I think it all depends upon who is available to give us pointers. We will have to work around their schedule so please let us know which day is best for the regrease party.

Sorry for not chiming in earlier for some updates. I'd be interested in attending this event and helping out others in regreasing their window tracks. I've taken the NSX door panels off countless times and had a similar event like this late last year helping two other members out with the same work.

Since I work Saturdays and every other Sunday, I typically can't make our monthly club events but having this event on a Sunday will work for me. May 8th may possibly work for me but the 22nd is definitely better. Since I'm coming from Monterey, the Fremont location may be a bit closer.

Hi Vytas,
Thanks for chiming in. If Sunday 5/22 will work for you, we will all plan for that day at my shop in Fremont. If we get done early, we can go for a nice quick drive. If anyone has a suggestion, that would be great. Let's say 10am on Sunday so hopefully we can all get done quickly and treat Vytas to a nice lunch.

Is there any specific grease we should purchase? If so, where should we buy it from and how many cars can the grease be used on?

I'm unavailable on the 22nd would the 15th work for you guys???
