Aud$40,000 Nsx !?

My guess its an auto.
and from the ad its a personal import 09/90 under the 15 year old import rule.
I heard the interior is very worn so the 40K is very sketchy.

Add states that it is a manual.

Yes there is. Production started in 1990. There is no such thing as a 1990 model in America! In America you call something made in 1990 a 1991 model. In Australia we go off the Build date.

I have personally never seen or heard of this car but no reason why it should not be true. (It's not advertised on ebay! )

I agree 40,000K's is very low, almost unbelievably low, and if the interior is not nearly perfect, then I would have to question the mileage as well.

There was an Australian delivered NSX which sold for $40,000 AUD in Queensland as well 6 months ago. But that had 200,000 K's on it, but it was all log booked and checked out!

This is an import with an untraceable history and for all we know an accident car. So sounds like a good deal but do the usual checks...

Hehe. After seeing a few silly, silly eBay listings on here, no eBay = good!Hmmm, since these cars have been imported, can the importers be traced back and any further details be obtained to make checks on the vehicle's history in Japan? Is this at all possible? Do the Japanese version of RTA/DOT remove record of the vehicle?

Just FYI I am not in the market (read: no money, and not legally allowed to drive one) for an NSX yet but like keeping tabs on those available as well as reading up on NSX Prime for a while now. If anyone was in the market for this one, please go ahead!

I live in America so for me there is no such thing

That first link is gone... was it sold?

There have been a couple of aussie NSX's sell for ~$40K that i know of, so it's not an impossibility. But it does make you wonder what's wrong with it. But man, for $40k if I had the dough I'd have checked it out. If the interior is crap, it's a perfect excuse to mod it all! Just as AU_NSX (who needs no excuse to mod whatsoever :D ).

Hi everyone.
With locally delivered early series 1's now changing hands in Australia for the mid to late $40k's, why does this import with an unknown past strike anyone as a cheap or good buy.
The car appears to be being sold by an import car dealer who has been trying to sell it for months at a much higher price without any success. He recently reduced the asking price and still after 2 weeks at this lower price he isn't getting any bites.
Come on guys, I thought we were better than that? Lets not confuse Asking Price with Market Value and Market Price.
The Market is now filled with contemporary sports cars that offer current build technology which a car that was designed more than 15 years ago has to compete with in the market place. Given, few have the look and feel of our beloved NSX, but market forces will always dictate price.
In conclusion, is this imported early NSX worth $40k? Probably not, with respect to the seller, its probably worth somewhere in the low to mid $30k's.

Sure there is.
Before I bought my car, I checked with Honda Japan, they came back with info on my car.
Built on 9 November 1990 (Friday, no wonder it squeaks). Shipped to Europe in Dec 1990, first sold in 1993 so it says on the registration documents 1993. Even though it’s a 1991 model (000211) from 1990.

Danny,
I bought mine last year with 52,000km and as I said it is a 1991 model. The car is very good, I presume it has spent most of its life sitting in someone’s garage. So it’s possible your kms are real.
Of course Oz is a little bit bigger than Belgium, so maybe someone wound the kms back.
I paid €25,000 (AUS$40,000) but of course that doesn’t mean anything…

We are planning to visit Oz in April or May 2006. Can I visit some of you guys? I would also like to meet NeoNSX, his posts always put me on the floor laughing. Ripper! (did i get that right?). How is the weather then and are the kangaroos out of hibernation then?
Peter

Ok by now i believe the car is sold..i spoke to the guy at length..he was wholesaling the car..he bought and stored the car in Japan for 12 mths unforunately it wasnt underecovere so the paint and interior unprotected faded particularly on the rear, there were also some 'bumps and scrapes' as a result of it being stored out in the open, there were no books, it came with gold coloured alloys 18s ? [he thought], the car was chipped and had Mungen exhaust fitted..the guy bought it in as a personal import, but really after driving felt an auto was the go..so he bought 2 autos in Japan, and will be bringing them over ..his and hers..hmm

A mate of mine who collects Ausie GTs rang me on the car as he thought of it as good 'project'/ donor car for me [or him] [unfortunately both our wives were stdg with axes at the ready !!]..the guy said he had had heaps of inquiries on the car, but as a dealer he wanted someone to buy it outright..he had had several trade offers, but needed cold cash for the autos coming..talking to him over 30 mins he didin't know much about them in terms of detail..but liked it so much he thought the autos were better for him and his wife so he was bailing out of the manual..but he said at 39.5k he was still making $s...makes you wonder what they can get them for from Japan !!

The kangaroos will not be in hibernation in April Peter but they will be quite lethargic as they start to hibernate in May. Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere so it will in fact be Autumn.

It is a good time to visit because the native wild wallabies start to roam through the cities looking to feast on easy prey like family pets... But it's quite spectacular when they are caught under a nesting male Koala (locally nick named "Drop Bear"...Very nasty things! 2" claws y'know!!!

This is only in and around Melbourne though... no wild animals get close to Sydney due to the infestations of the funnel web spider...

That's why Steve Irwin won't leave Queensland...

Queenslanders, only have to deal with the saltwater crockodiles Which are protected by law now! , the Queensland Government have protected the crockodile so that next time one gets into your swimming pool you are not allowed to simply jump in and kill it!!! No, now you have to call Australia Zoo and get Steve Trwin and his film crew around to "rescue" the saltwater croc!!!

Let us know what dates your comming Peter...

LOL, you are a screamer AU! :D

But you're right about Melbourne... here's a little vistor who's made himself at home in my backyard. He's an expensive pet to keep but a great security system. :D When i get home from work after a stressful day i go outside for a wrestle with him... very relaxing.

AU_NSX, thanks for the helpful info, mate. You're so kind.
Wallabies/kangaroos, they’re all the same to us. They hop, right? If so, that’s enough for me. Just make sure they hop. And I’ve heard about those koalas, that’s why I’m so nervous about my visit. My wife and family are trying to talk me out of going. Iraq would have been the safer option. Oh well, too late now. Damn, how I sometimes hate this adventurous streak in me!
I’ll be sure to set my affairs in order, write my will and take out danger insurance and say bye-bye to my NSX before I come, I’ll wear knee high leather boots against the spiders and snakes, I’ll order infrared heat seeking movement sensing laser blasting night vision goggles from eBay so I don’t get eaten by a fresh/salt/whatever crocodile (em, are they cold blooded, so will the goggles work?…and do you have batteries for the goggles in Oz or must I stock up before I come? Come to that, do you have electricity in Oz?), hire a bush guide to escort me around Melbourne with a harpoon equipped combat crew, and then spend 99% of the time in the hotel as per US reporters. So I guess I won’t be needing my hat with dangling corks. And I wasn’t planning on swimming in the hotel swimming pool anyway, d’ya think I’m stupid?! Jeez!

LOL 710... AU_NSX is pulling your leg, and so am I. :D Australia is just as civilized as the USA (except parts of LA, New Orleans after Katrina, Phoenix during NSXPO'05, etc., you get the idea. :D )

April/May is still a way off and plans are always subject to change, but we'd love to meet you. See ya soon mate! And if you're in Sydney, you might see AU_NSX hunting funnel-web spiders with his bare hands. Crikey! :p :D

Cheers, Happy New Year!

Whoa! Are you (real Australians) really saying THAT? That your Oz beer is not the best? Do you want to cause a civil war down there or something??
Uh oh, gotta run…

I see by this photo that you have a road down there (it may lean a little though), but i don't see any elektrik lights to illuminate the road (well, that's ok cuz I don't see any beer either).
But isn't this just about the best photo of an NSX ever made?

Thanks for the compliment. I don't know about "best ever", but that's definitely the best NSX photo I've ever taken.

This photo was taken in the Otway Ranges Rainforest; part of the Great Ocean Road. There are no lights to illuminate the road.

Also, this photo was taken dead-level. The huge angle is what the road is really like. ;) All highway corners in Australia are on embankments for high-speed cornering..... isn't that right AU_NSX :D

You took that photo? I should have known…

It is a fantastic photo Neo..

And all highway corners is Australia are like that it's true Neo but not for hi-speed cornering unfortunately... The fun stoppers are way too plentiful and overpaid for that... They are banked like that so the road kill slides right off the road after been hit by a road train...

You certainly wouldn't want to get out of your car... Might get attacked by a herd of hopping mad kangaroos...

Hey Pete... I am sorry I have been lying to you mate... We do in fact have beer here which is quite good because we ship all the crap Fosters to Europe!

It's just that I don't think anyone has a passion for beer like in Belgium ! So many boutique breweries literally hundreds of beers! And well you know about variety....
