Audio/Video/Computer Install?

Hi gang,
A while back, I read an article about an audio/video install in an NSX that used an Alpine system with a retractable flat panel display. Basically the unit looked normal, but when you popped the panel a 7"-8" LCD panel slid out and swiveled into place for viewing. I have seen this used as part of computer/DVD video install.

Now, I am not one to be enjoying the NSX at 120+mph and watching The Matrix on DVD at the same time, but I have been known to check my e-mail while at highways speeds.

Does anyone know the Apline model number, where I can get something like that done or any info about a similar install in an NSX?

Hi Gordon,

Confine that device to your BMW. You don't really want that kind of contraption in your NSX, do you? NSXs are for driving, especially on weekends (you know what I mean). Don't read e-mails or read maps while you drive, just enjoy the car as it was meant to be enjoyed¡ Happy motoring!

Tony, you are quite right. What was I thinking. Now I know why my dad's 1968 Lamborghini Miura P-400SV didn't even come with a radio. When people used to ask us how did we stand it with nothing to listen to, we would just laugh and remind them of the sweet music pumping out of the V12 right behind our heads.

Thanks for bringing me back to reality.

Andrew,
Thanks man! That is exactly what I was looking for. Navigation, DVD compatible and everything. There is also a new one by ECLIPSE that uses a 16x9 screen.

G-man:

This is what you do:

1. Get the Eclipse Unit
2. Forget the DVD
3. Mount a camera up front.
4. Mount a mic near back.
5. Get an aftermarket exhaust + intake
6. Install a VCR
7. Record your drives - the camera will be about 4 - 5 inches off of the ground!
8. Upload AVI Movies of your drives.

Oh, you think I'm kidding? hehe
