We haven't had an AutoCross in a while so I think this could be great.

Here's the link to the field. http://eltorofield.com/

Next step is we'll be going to el toro to decide which runway we want.
Event will probably be in July or August.

Here's two possible configurations and a blank one to design-your-own for you DIY specialists. Some of the 'straights' will be slaloms.

Have fun and stay tuned!

If pricing is anywhere near what prior Hollywood Park Auto-X events were, I'd be interested in a 1-day event. That location would work out fine for me. :)

Thanks for looking into this.

Dave,

I'm thinking August (if possible).

one day, two day..... anyday!!!!

sooner the better.....I always thought ET would be a great location for those events....getter dun!!!

As long as the cost is not sky high, I'd love to go. Let me know if you need help setting up.

August would be nice.

Thanks for organizing it, Dave!

1 Day, any weekend just not on August 19/20 (Hawaii!)

 Steve R. made my job much easier by giving me an aerial photo of the park. Then John R. relaid-out my original draft to keep the speed down for safety reasons. Without him, cars will probably be flying off into trees and light poles.

Then we had to readjust while we were there that morning to avoid bad patches, dipps with the help of an experienced autocrosser Mako.

In another word, without their help, you wouldn't have had nearly as much fun last time.

It would have to be an NSX only event, since we would be using the NSXCA insurance binder
This would also have to be an NSXCA approved event, or else we are on our own when it comes to insurance.
Previously, we would fill up the event (to reach a certain car count) with other makes, but only a small percentage.

Update:

We're well on our way, probably in July and maybe another in Sept/Aug.
It's more expensive than hollywood but I think they'll deal.

Cdub and Cool - PM me if interested in checking out the site tomorrow or next week. They want us to check it out.

In the mean time, here's a quick video of last time at 768Kbps

I have to get mine up before Akira3d does his

Hi Dave -

Can you elaborate on this a bit for us newbies with no track experience?

1) What kind of costs are we thinking?
2) What kind of safety equipment will be required (ie roll cage, helmet, etc.)
3) What kind of speeds are we talking?
4) My understanding of AutoX events is that the only real damage one can do to their car is hitting a cone, eating brakes, or eating tires. Is this correct?
5) Will this be limited to NSX owners? I completely understand the need to keep NSX only event for insurance (a big plus to me) but I've got a buddy who just took delivery of a Cayman S that would love to come with me and participate in my NSX if that's feasible.

Thanks for taking the lead on this, BTW. As you know, I've never tracked my car and this could be a great way for me to get a taste.

I may be able help out a little on his behalf.

1) What kind of costs are we thinking?
Way under $100

2) What kind of safety equipment will be required (ie roll cage, helmet, etc.)
Current Snell approved helmet.

3) What kind of speeds are we talking?
2nd gear, maybe getting into 3rd for a second or two.

4) My understanding of AutoX events is that the only real damage one can do to their car is hitting a cone, eating brakes, or eating tires. Is this correct?
Yes, unless you plan driving like this guy.

5) Will this be limited to NSX owners? I completely understand the need to keep NSX only event for insurance (a big plus to me) but I've got a buddy who just took delivery of a Cayman S that would love to come with me and participate in my NSX if that's feasible.
NSXCA owners will get to sign up first, then we will fill in the remaining spots with other makes.

Thanks for taking the lead on this, BTW. As you know, I've never tracked my car and this could be a great way for me to get a taste.
Most fun you'll have with your clothes on, YMMV.

OK, you asked for it!!!
