brake master cylinder failure questionnaire

Did the master cylinder of your car's brakes fail? What year, miles, DOT 4 brake fluid or synthetic? Also interested in high mileage cars with still the first unit.

Well apparently one of them failed because both were change not long before I bought mine with 51,000 on the clock. I'll be replacing the hose soon for piece of mind.

No, never. 78K total miles including 13K track miles. Most of that time I have used Motul RBF 600, which is a DOT 4 fluid which exceeds DOT 5.1 boiling point minimums. (The two major types of fluid are not DOT 4 vs synthetic, but rather, DOT 3/4/5.1 non-SBBF vs DOT 5 which is silicone-based brake fluid, or SBBF.)
