Hi, I have a 1992 right hand drive manual nsx with a now non working brake master. I have just been told by the dealer that these units are no longer available from Honda Japan. Which means I have to look for a non genuine new unit. Can anyone help as my car is not going anywhere. I am in Melbourne Australia....thanks

Well- I am not the best person to answer but - ... ebay for used or I see a company called "Cardone"
on ebay that has this.
Not sure about this supplier or getting one to you in AU (or if the right and left are the same).
Free advice - not worth much more.

I'm sure the RH drive mc are configured differently than the LH drive cars. LH mc's are readily available on the after market so I'm sure the same goes with RH units. Check with Kaz Ukai on the FB Owners site or as Kaz-kzukNA1 on the Uk Prime Forum http://www.nsxcb.co.uk.
Make sure you get a new one and not a re-built unit.

LHD & RHD MC's are the same. I would try another dealer, I don't believe they are not available in Japan when they are available from UK and US dealers still... Rock auto could be an option for you though.

thanks everyone for your suggestions. I would prefer genuine over after market units. I will try some other dealers here in Australia as well as maybe England. Thanks again

As long as we are talking about the brake master cyl that has the brake fluid reservoir attached to its body and you don’t own NA2 NSX-R, the parts # is 46100-SL0-954.

It's not sided so same parts for both the RHD/LHD and for all year models except for the NA2 NSX-R.
If the worst comes, there is also OEM rebuild kit (pistons, etc) available from Honda but if your internal cyl bore has already worn, best to replace the whole unit.

Should be still available as I just received one from Japan here in UK.
I don't know how the parts system works in Australia but please first try a different Honda dealer.
If it still says discontinued, then, since you are in Melbourne, it would be cheaper to have it delivered directly from Japan to your address using the English speaking parts distributor based in Japan.
I have never used one by myself so can't comment based on my own experience but some of the UK owners used the following services in the past and seemed they got good services;

rhdjapan.com
amayama.com

Please note that most of the companies in Japan will be closed for their summer holiday around WK2 – WK3 in August including all Honda offices.

again thanks to everyone's suggestions. I tried a dealer in London who advised they were available ex Japan, so I hunted down another NSX Honda dealer in Melbourne, with the answer that yes the brake master cylinder was indeed available from Japan so I don't know what happened with the first dealer I tried. Yes 46100.SLO.954 appears to be the correct unit after much checking around. So the long and the short of it is, that I have this day ordered a unit to come from Japan which I hope will appear in around two weeks and I can finally finish this project and get my car back on the road. Thanks again to all

I just had a Brake Master Cylinder failure 4 days ago. Truly a scary event as the NSX almost killed me when my brake failed without notice. Was driving 60 miles per hour on an open road only to come to a stop light 30 yards away with a pile of cars stopped for red light. my brake pedal feels soft and mushy and pushed the brake all the way to the bottom without any stopping power. Pumped the brake pedal a few more times and no luck the NSX wasn't slowing down. I quickly applied the hand brake and down shifted to first gear preparing to run into a pile of cars. Luckily my car stopped just in time. Immediately got my NSX towed to a near by acura specialist in the area. H Tek @ Rowland Heights replaced the brake master cylinder unit with new brake oil for under $500. Not sure if I got OEM or after market brake master cylinder unit. But I was told my NSX got a new unit and not a rebuilt one. Now my brake and ABS system is working 100%. Do not skimp out on the brake master cylinder. This failure can kill you.
