Awesome stuff. I have already ordered some of this.

When will the SOS Coolant tanks be available. I have been told 3 times in awhile but just wondering when that will be.

Cheers and thanks.

i got the shift knob, feels nice, but i screwed the knob all the way down and it broke the plastic ring.

Did you clip the ring to the knob prior to fastening down? By doing this, the knob will not thread down further than the kink in the factory lever allows. Please let me know if this doesn't make sense, and I will do better to illustrate it.

It is something we're actively working on. The problem is due to the cost of materials and fabrication the tanks have become so expensive. We're doing our best to keep the product at a reasonable price.

Interesting. I never thought of using ceramic coating as an option for surfaces designed to be interfaced with the fingers.

Do u offer powder coating (for example colors that resemble the paint job?

Ceramic is very tough (much greater tensile strength that paint / powdercoat) and has a very thin buildup layer. Powdercoating or painted won't work because it is not as durable and the buildup thickness is too great and inconsistent for a precision fit part like this. The ceramic finish is an awesome finish!

i get what you are saying, but its too late now.

Is this Delrin knob that ur selling made from full Delrin or is it a coating?

thats the one i have, looks like its machined out of a chunk of derlin. derlin rocks, it doesn't get hot like steel knobs... its all i run on my cars.

I understand, and am sorry. The ring should be repairable. Drop me an e-mail, and I'll help you out.

i might get the Type R shift boot in the future, so its not a big deal.

Not going to break off?

well i never have had that happen... hundreds of track/ rally events in the past with derlin knobs and never a problem. temps ranging from 12 degrees to 115 degrees F...

Machined from solid Delrin. This is a great part, I'm surprised we haven't sold more!

cheers,

Chris, ever thought of ceramic coating the shift knob to reduce heat?

It is something to consider, however, I don't know if it would make that large of a difference however, that's a good suggestion and we'll look at making a trial unit. I think most customers looking for a cool to the touch shift knob will opt to the Delrin unit.

I've used white Delrin in my custom CNC milled 7075 sway bar brackets for the RX7.

Way better than the Polyurethane since they were self-lubricating.

Didn't have to grease it.

What's the weight difference between the delrin and metal knobs?

I do not know exactly, but it is significant, perhaps 1/100 of the weight. Delrin is a relatively lightweight material.

Gotta get me some of those door sill protectors. What a great idea!

SOS is best!

I've always thought that the school of thought was a shift knob should be very heavy for a smooth and fast shift.

Ham fisted apes like me like heavy shift knobs because they do tend to smooth out shifting especially for those who possess something less than a professional driver's touch on the lever. Guys with tons of driving talent who have a great feel and light touch often prefer lighter shift knobs as they are more communicative.
