Why wouldn't a dealer take an order for a car? If you put down a deposit and don't want a firm price you can place an order for a 2008 NSX with most dealers.
Porsche wanted a $65,000 non-refundable, non-interest bearing deposit on the new Carrera GT and they wouldn't even tell you what the final price would be until the car was built. I decided to pass on this one.
