The only thing that stops me from looking at these types of devices is the frequency with which I change phones...
It's silly, would you buy a regular stereo deck with a 3.5" touchscreen?
The concept is novel, but in your car you're going to struggle to use this as a primary screen, for anything.
In addition, I don't think you can even use the phone application when in landscape mode, so perhaps this will require you jailbreak your phone, or run a custom app for answering calls.
agree!
if its going to be the same size as a Double Din, i would rather get a DD with bluetooth.

Also, I don't see the "Made for iPod" or "Works with iPhone" emblem anywhere on the site or the product - meaning the device has not (yet) passed a set of compatibility tests put out by Apple that ensures reliable operation into the future.
They may still be in the process of getting it certified but I'd hold off on buying it until they were done.
Its doubtful that they want to spend their precious capital on getting a sticker from Apple.
Devium is a member of Apple's Made for iPhone program and we plan on certifying Dash but that will not occur before we launch in July. The protocols we use to control Dash via the iPhone will not be interfered or altered by an update unless Apple were to remove serial connectivity completely from iOS. Dash installs in a car just as any aftermarket stereo would. Dash has pre amp outputs and powered speaker wires, power, and ground via the wiring harness. Plus we have some incredible ideas in store for our USB port; computer connectivity and third party accessories are a few.
The iPhone's current screen is 3.5 inches but its higher res than anything on the market double din wise. I used to own a Pioneer Z-110BT and it has a big screen but Pioneer doesn't make friendly User Interfaces, they wasted 60% of the screen and the device never updates. Why spend 1800 on a unit and then bluetooth your phone to it and listen to subpar audio? We want to keep your phone out of a cupholder or your pocket or having to hold on to it with your hand while driving. I also have an aversion to bluetooth, its inconsistent. Our 30 pin connector is Apple's official connector and is low friction. It is not going to break or wear out. If it does call us and we will take care of it.
