I have a 17/18 combo on my car right now and I am experiencing some pretty significant tire rub especially on the front. My question is how do people have an 18/19 combo and not have problems with this. The tire size on the front is 235/45. I have been thinking about going down to a 215/40. Do you think that this would solve the problem? Also, with the larger wheel/tire combo on the rear my TCS system thinks that the rear tires are slipping and reduces power. I have to turn this system off whenever I drive. I did read on the FAQ that this is common on the earlier cars. I just wondered if any of you have experienced that same thing. Thank you in advance for your help.

Your rubbing problem on the front is due to the front tire size. Go with a 215/40/17 (assuming your front rim is no wider than 8") and the rubbing should go away. Going to a 215/40/17 reduces your overall wheel + tire diameter by a calculated 1.5" and that is enough to solve the rubbing. The TCS problem will likely be solved as well, but its hard to tell b/c you didn't list your rear tire size.

For starters your front tire is too tall, for the street 215/40 is the way to go,if you track the car and don't mind a little rub then 235/40,,btw when asking for tire help esp with sizing, please always give exact sizes front and rear, and this is a frequent issue so please search the topic- tcs and tire sizes.

235-45-17 tires are too tall, unless you have one of those F250 offroad kits.

My 235-40-17 only rub on my compliance link front clamps, and then only at the last 1/4 turn before lock, I am OK with that. If the tire was 5 mm taller it would rub all the time on the fender opening!
