I am guessing it was the end result of high speed police chase. The Police caught up 15 sec later.

He was being chased by the Highway patrol and crashed. Looks like he's pretty dead in that video. Actions have consequences and he has to take responsibilty for them. Looks like his life in the video.

Authorities are investigating whether a Lower Township man's history of seizures caused his fatal, high-speed, fiery crash into a Garden State Parkway toll booth last week.

Bernard King, 52, had a history of seizures and apparently had a seizure only a few hours before the 8:30 a.m. accident, according to State Police and King's mother, Edna King. Edna King said her son was taken from the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort, where he worked as a dealer, to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, at about 5:30 a.m.
State Police Capt. Al Della Fave also said King was taken to the hospital after suffering a seizure that some witnesses believed to be a stroke.

"It wasn't," he said. "It was a seizure. He was inclined to have seizures."

When asked about King, a hospital spokeswoman said there was "no information about that name."

The cause of King's seizures was not available.

Edna King spoke only briefly Monday about last week's events and her son, saying, "Right now, I'm getting ready to bury him."

"It was so fast," she said.

Edna King said she's also trying to find out just what happened Thursday.

"There's a lot of things up in the air," she said.

An autopsy performed Thursday on King by the Atlantic County Medical Examiner's Office listed the cause of death as traumatic injuries and thermal burns.

Atlantic County Medical Examiner Dr. Hydow Park was not available to comment Monday about whether the autopsy revealed anything related to King's seizure.

According to the Casino Control Commission, King held a casino dealer's license since 1986.

King was heading south on the parkway when he crashed into a concrete barrier and toll booth at the toll plaza. State Police estimated King was traveling about 65 mph.

King's car immediately burst into flames. State Police working a nearby truck-exhaust checkpoint rushed to the scene, only to have their rescue attempt foiled by flames from the burning car.

Fire and rescue units quickly arrived at the scene, along with other State Police units.

The crash closed at least three toll lanes, and parkway operators waived tolls for about an hour at the remaining toll lanes to keep traffic moving quickly through the scene.

The Great Egg toll plaza is one of three toll plazas on the southern end of the parkway that has been converted into one-way toll plazas in an attempt to improve traffic flow.

How does someone with a "history of seizures" get a license in the first place?

And secondly, who witnesses an accident like that ten feet away and continues on like there's nothing wrong?

Horrible crash.

No kidding. It's almost comical how those two cars just kept going like "oh well"

History of seizures should have resulted in a license revocation. That is a shame; fortunately it appears no other injuries involved.

In CA you cannot have a valid DL if you have a history of seizures. Hate to say it, but if this guy knew he had a history of seizures, and decided to drive anyway, then he got what he deserved. Theres a reason they don't let people prone to seizures drive. It could have been my wife and kids that he rear ended at the toll booth. So I say good riddance!

While I certainly agree that he shouldn't have been driving or even had a license, it's never "good" when someone dies, especially not like that.

Obviously he shouldn't have been driving. But Lets be a little realistic. Are you guys saying that if somebody had a seizure 5 years ago then shouldn't be driving TODAY? Thats a bit harsh. In Texas, you have be seizure free for 6 months straight and be on meds to get your license.

I partially agree... I think 6 months is too short, should be a year! But even this guys mother said "he is inclined to have seizures". He shouldn't have been driving PERIOD! The only people I feel remorse for in this situation is his family and those who had to witness the horrific accident... :frown:

i think its about the same in AZ. there's a time period of medically documented siezure free life, after which you can get a licence. 6-12 months i think.

But some jackass who drives around knowing he has siezures (maybe because he's too lazy to take his meds?) I won't shed any tears over.

But you didn't post the cat thread.
nick really didn't offend, but he did justifiably defend....
that thread was out there, but no more gawky than what is being
paraded around this thread as "acceptable"

I can see some peoples point on the cat. Those were pretty graphic pics. It didn't bother me but i can see how it would bother some. The crash at such a distant shot is more like something you would see on cops or the "crash videos". I know someone lost their life and that is unfortunate but if this video disturbs anyone i don't think they could even watch television.

That being said, if anyone is upset by the video i will edit it out of my post.

I have known, and do know people with seizure disorders. There are always alternatives to driving. Public transportation is one of them. Shifty is right, that guy could have been responsible for taking innocent lives as well. Possibly our loved ones'.

I don't know guys. Maybe the driver of the car in this crash wanted to commit suicide. Going that fast for such a distance while having a seizure sounds suspicous to me.
