Fuel metering problem?

My 93 car intermittently displays an engine check light after being left unused for 2/3 week periods. However the warning only appears the first time the car is driven and usually does not reappear until another lay-up.

The problem code is 43 which the manual lists as a fuel metering problem.

Can anyone offer any advice on what may be the cause?

Each error code is accompanied by a page number for a diagnostic procedure to address it.

Did you follow the troubleshooting flowchart on page 11-36?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

No I haven't followed the flow chart. I wasn't sure whether it was worth it if I didn't have the test harness.
