I need some help on bleeding my clutch system. Today when I got to work I open the hood to show a friend of mine the car and I figured I would check the fluid levels and to my surprise my clutch reservoir was empty I went to the auto part store to buy some fluid butt I didn’t catch it in time. So in the morning I will need to bleed the system to get the air out its pretty spongy right now. Please let me know if there is a link that will walk through the process or you can tell me.

Thanks
Bill

Well, it's empty for a reason - fluid doesn't evaporate so means you have a leak & re-filling & bleeding will be at best a temporary solution. You will need to replace the master &/or the slave - check for sign of leaks in the rubber boot of the slave or under the carpet at the pedal to look for clues as to the primary culprit. I just replaced both of mine as I've seen enough instances of both failiong & felt it was good sense to do both at one time.

If you want to try bleeding as a temporary solution (or after you replace the cylinder(s),) then first fill the reservoir & raise & block the left rear of the car so you can access the slave cylinder bleed nipple.
If you don't have any kind of special bleeding apparatus you can do it the old way. Get someone to assist you with the pedal operation.
When operating the clutch pedal, it doesn't return like the brake does so instruct your helper to operate the pedal by hand, so it can be pulled back up again.
Attach a hose to the nipple and place the hose in a jar to catch the expelled fluid.
Open the bleed nipple and have your assistant depress the pedal; when at the bottom of the stroke, close the nipple; instruct your assistant to raise the pedal; repeat.
After about 5-6 strokes, be sure to check the fluid level - caution - the reservoir is not very big & you will easily reach the bottom again before you have cleared the bubbles and have to start form scratch again!
Once you are confident there are no more bubbles in your expelled fluid visible in your teflon hose, then with the pedal at the bottom, close the nipple one last time and have your assistant check the pedal pressure - will probably have to use their foot now and it should return un-assisted.
If you buy a Speedbleeder nipple, then you won't need an assistant - you can attach your hose, then simply pump the pedal up & down by yourself and remeber to keep an eye on the reservoir level. Once you are comfortable that you have purged the line completely & thoroughly (filled the reservoir a couple of times) then just go back under the car close the SpeedBleeder nipple & remove the hose & jar. Again check your pedal operation which should be normal if you've done it properly

Ok....Looks like im gonna buy the master/slave cylinder within the week. So in the morning im gonna bleed the system and replace it once I get the parts. Dumn question is the clutch bleeder valve the same as the brake system if so I have it in my toolbox  Does any know of a good site I can buy some more speed bleeders from so I can bleed my brake system?

http://www.speedbleeder.com/ :)

I recall the clutch bleeder being 8mm as opposed to 10mm for the caliper bleed valves. If you get the speedbleeders they are inch sized, from a post the other day, 3/8".

FYI, there is some pretty good DIY advice on replacing the master in this thread and the slave in this thread.

Off the top of my head, I would make sure I had the following tools before I got started (its been a while, I am probably missing something:

Jack & stands or ramps
A set of metric box wrenches, and a 3/8" english one. The ratcheting ones are really nice.
Torque wrench, metric sockets, ratchet, drive extensions and wobble. Trust me on the wobble.
Needlenose pliers
Long handle screwdriver
A ziplock & rubberband (unless you like brake fluid showers).
Grease
Plenty of brake fluid
Speedbleeder.

Good luck.

Well its the master cylinder thats bad. Vegasnsx and I are gonna bleed the system to day for a quick fix and replace them both once I get them from Daliracing. Thanks for the help
